advice from yall that i didn't take!!
My friend and I are splitting the cost of some decent hardware(against the advice of some on here) He just got an Akai MPD 32 today and I'm responsible for the keyboard. I've been looking at the Akai MINI AK because of all the preset sounds already on it and the VOCODER!!, but I like some features of the MICROKORG that the afformentioned keyboard doesnt have. If any of you have either of these, I'd love some feedback on how you like them/how well they work in the studio. Gracias, and Merry Christmas!!

If he's not a drama queen and you guys don't act like two year-olds then sharing the equipment should work out just fine.nastynak23 wrote:My friend and I are splitting the cost of some decent hardware(against the advice of some on here) He just got an Akai MPD 32 today and I'm responsible for the keyboard. in fuckin around with the MPD32 last night, there seems to be a delay from the time the pad is struck to when you hear the effect or drum noise etc. My friend has a trigger finger and it was the same way. What could be causing this?. Also the MINI aK doesnt have a USB port. It has of course MIDI in and out, and one that says MIDI Thru. Will this be a problem? the keyboard will mostly stay in the studio for creation but i dont want to completely rule out the idea of having it in a live setting

If it doesnt have USB you will need an soundcard with midi in/out or something like a MOTU MIDI Express which can be connected via USB to then connect your MIDI devices. The MIDI Thru can be used for daisy chaining it to other devices when syncing it with MIDI Clock if you wanted to syncronise the LFOs to the track tempo.nastynak23 wrote:in fuckin around with the MPD32 last night, there seems to be a delay from the time the pad is struck to when you hear the effect or drum noise etc. My friend has a trigger finger and it was the same way. like i said it's a 100$ more repackage of the micron. you'll just need like a usb to midi cable or interface.Sinisterbeats wrote:If it doesnt have USB you will need an soundcard with midi in/out or something like a MOTU MIDI Express which can be connected via USB to then connect your MIDI devices. and since the patches are the same if you join the yahoo ion/micron group you could snag some of the patches i've made and use em on the miniak
Re: advice from yall that i didn't take!!
The Microkorg is sweet, the possibilities are endless. BUT, the keyboard is very tiny....
Our current live set up is a microkorg, korg electribe sampler and MPC 1000, and it's all we need, really.
