Post by seckle » Wed Dec 30, 2009 5:36 pm

horrible write up, but it shows you how far things have come if one of the biggest shit newspapers in the USA mentions this sound. thats another few million people that googled "dubstep" this morning, along with "screamo".

try 90% of all newspapers. It's the American way, dumbing everything down so no one's excluded, celebrating our mediocrity

Was going to say, that is common knowledge I thought. The average American has 4th grade level comprehension so it makes sense. To be fair I am at a kindergarten level so since this wasn't written by Dr. Suess, tldr.

It seems like just yesterday you would mention dubstep and you would get the face in return. Or you would get "interesting selection of drumnbass you got going there". Not even sure the increase in popularity is a good thing. Never been a mainstream kinda guy but it is what it is. Just feels weird being the one of a handful of people in town that knew what it was to a few years later where all these experts on the genre seeped out of the woodwork. Whatever.

haha... no doubt on abz's point.

I just love how it says that pop music diffused into these genres that have nothing to do with pop... and probably rose up more out of defiance of pop music.

Best article ever!

I heard the SKREAMIX of La Roux's in for the kill in an AD at a local Gamestop here in Southern California. Yeah, made me feel stupid for paying $40 to get that one sided vinyl copy. Then again, maybe things like this means more dorks and dude-bros would recognize shit in my set.

USA Today is good for business and personal finance but not good with music.
