both are balanced-- positive lead, negative lead, ground. get whichever's easier to use or obtain.

TS cables are the unbalanced ones-- stay away from those as much as you can.

my setup requires trs to xlr cables (soundcard out, control knob in)

as mentioned above, both are balanced

stay away from cheaper unshielded cables like "HOSA" brand

both balanced so doesn't matter as said before. the hosa/livewire stuff isn't that bad depending on what you're using it for. personally i buy it over monster any day.
