How does hearing Dubstep in mainstream places make you feel?

Post by .onelove. » Tue Jan 05, 2010 1:11 am

Say a misc advert (In for the Kill - Bayonetta) or some shoddy soap opera (Hollyoaks) or briefly in a retail shop (Burtons) or randomly dropped in some shit-heel of a nightclub inbetween a playlist comprising of pop and r'n'b.

It's a conflict of emotion for me, I begin to think HOORAH DUBSTEP, then immediately selfishly think NO FUCK OFF GENERAL PUBLIC THIS IS ACTUALLY MINE.

^^^pussy
i usually have to drive 5 hours for sets.

Call me a snob if yu must, but it's the small, friendly community of steppas that I miss...been swamped by the private school, fancy haircuts, drunkards & poseurs.
It started here in 2008 around SpongeBob (love it) but it's now gotten ridiculous.
Unfortunately the Skream/Benga gig out here in Jan 09 took it to another level cos the festival crowds they'd stirred up started coming to nights. Must've told their little brothers cos now it's 15 y.o.s trying to get in. Most people still haven't heard of it mind.
The promoters who have been long term advocates (some of whom are producers & spinners themselves), like VOID, are being duly financially rewarded for their efforts & I don't mind that but, as I said, I miss a small crowd that Knew each other, dancing to cutting edge, g-r-e-a-t music.

Thankfully I have not heard Dubstep in any sort of public, thankfully I live in the middle of nowhere.

Deja vu
Hardcore, Jungle, UK Garage and now Dubstep. God i'm getting old.
I couldn't give a shit, the media/general public soon get bored and move on to the next big thing.
