FM8

Post by halo skycrash » Tue Jan 05, 2010 7:44 am

I searched on this site for FM8 and nothing came up. Anyone into FM8? After I figured it out it's pretty nice. It's like a nasty version of Absynth.

yes i just bought FM8 too. tbh though i'm finding fm synthesis to be a lot more difficult than subtractive synthesis. i'm just doing very simple things at the moment. one thing i will say about FM8 though is that it is amazing sounding. i really really love the sound of it.

i recommend looking at any youtube tutorials you can find. there arent many but there are enough to get a good idea of what the hell is going on in the FM matrix. these two have nothing to do with dubstep but theyre def helpful.

Yeah it sucks there are not videos. It's cause its a harder program to use. Try to find Reaktor tutorials as well.

Yeah the Matrix is fun to play with. I wish there were arrows to go through the presets the FM matrix has. You have to open that long drop down menu to change. Also still a little unsure on how to tune the oscillators. Anyone know the principals in the Ops section? Ratio, Offset?

How to Make a Noise has a good FM section, it's not FM8 specific, but is very useful if you've never used FM synthesis.

You can get the free version from http://noisesculpture.com/htman_free.html
