Unlucky mate. Like you say tho, more time to work on tunes. Plus, you've now got an answer for when you make it big and an interviewer asks "so when did you start getting serious about production?"
Good luck!

I was there with you not long ago. Am employed now and so is my wife. Almost losing my house is no joke. On the bright side the credit card company gave us 12 months no interest to get caught back up. Amazing that they reward you for delinquent... actually skipped payments rather. But there still wasn't much brap time because I still have to watch my kids and tbh I was feeling more depressed than creative. All good now tho. A job today is not to be taken for granted.

Just make your job finding a job. Dont get into the habbit of staying up late and waking up late. Follow your routine, look for a job on the public library's computer if you have to to get out of the house. And don't get depressed, loosing a job sucks, but it wasnt your fault.
Good Luck

Eh. I haven't had a job in over a year (my fiance died so I took a.... "break" from life for a while. Ok I drank myself half to death for 6 months, then spent the next year in rehab/recovery. Don't ever do that, it's hell on earth.) and I'm starting to hate it. I'm broke, and having no responsibility really makes me sit on my ass and be lazy. I find when I have less free time I use it more productively instead of "meh, I'll take a nap, then maybe work on some beats later", I'm like "shit I've only got an hour to jam, best get my ass to work now!"
And I started dating again. Girlfriends can be expensive... But on the upside, keep her entertained with dinner and a movie and she showed her gratitude by giving me all her ex's studio/DJ gear!

i lost my job when all this shit storm kicked off. was happy being a designer, then had to work in shitty retail.
now working in a call centre to make ends meet. the shit thing is, with my original job, i had more time for music than the one i got now, and it paid so much better.
ahhh well, we all in the same boat!

I just graduated and there's fuck all decent jobs in the UK atm. Anything remotely good has X hundred applications, and I don't have any industry contacts to help me into a company. Doing a bullshit temp job when really I'd love to get cracking on a career, move out and start making moves i.e. buy nice studio equip/a car.
DEPRESSING SHIZNIT, but as you say, at least you gots more time for music.
Maybe try starting a digi label or something, at the very least it'd 'show initiative' for future interviews. Or just teach yourself stuff using the net man, programming, graphic design, I dunno... I kinda envy you in a way, 9-5 of misery for me.
