My uncle is planning to adopt a kid from there. He has to wait almost a year to get the kid. Hope he's all right.

biggest recorded earthquake in that part of carribean,
hottest day in melbourne for 100 years,
coldest day in u.k for however long its been.

plus except for the UN the country has no authority, it's like a little piece of africa in the carribean.
I suspect lots & lots of casualties due to the bad healthcare, shitty built houses & lack of infrastructure.

Haiti and the Dominican Republic are a good example of how two societies can use what is essentially the same piece of land, and one can succeed and the other can relatively fail.
