Which Antivirus package for my laptop?

Post by futures_untold » Wed Jan 13, 2010 8:06 pm

Just gunna buy a antivirus package for my new laptop.

I'll be using it in some random wifi networks too.

I'm looking for a set of packages that will protect me from malware, spyware, viruses and turning my computer into a zombie.

What do ya recommend and more importantly, why do you recommend it???

Maybe I'll also PM DSF's resident computer tech professor too? (Serox) ;)

Ta.

I've been using AVG free for ages... it's been doing it's job but I don't torrent or anything like that some my lappy is relatively safe. I only have problems with tracking cookies but AVG vaults them all.

I'll probably get a virus tonight just for typing that now :)

AVG free doesnt protect you from root kits. Ie people key-tracking and making you computer a 'slave'

I'm 100% legit... Don't need to worry about keygens anymore ;)

AVAST! has a horid interface that made me want to puke in my nans face (well, I exagerate somewhat)....

Just bought AVG. Used the free one for years but figured the full version will protect me from STI's better.

It only has assloads of flaws because thiers assloads of maciots trying to use it...

Def. not a mac wanna be... Open source and the Unix framework were very revolutionary conepts...

Its really aobut having the mind for it... Im not really recommending it for anyone whos not well versed in languages... Linux is the seedy underbelly of the OS world, were only brave souls should tread... But when those of us with the brains for it tread thier, it comes out prettier then your silly paid OSs!

Nah just find a nice skin. This is the one i've been using for years, i'm sure theres better ones now too

I got rid of AVG after version 7, really started to go downhill.

Nod32 is also very nice.
