MPC 1000 - Dubstep

Sorry if this seems like my first post, I've been a member for a while, but forgot my username so had to re-register.

Anyway. Got my MPC 1000 yesterday and my HD25 MK2's. I do a lot of old school hip hop, used to own the 2500. All my dubstep goes via Logic but I was thinking about doing it on the MPC. Get creative with it. Maybe produce the basslines in logic, just 4 bars a piece, do different variations, make it wacky, then drop them onto the pads on the MPC, chop them up and have some fun with em'.

Anyone producing dubstep on an MPC? I guess the workflow puts a few people off.

I've used an MPC 2500 to make a dubstep tune before.

I find that my drums get alot less "Pattern-ish" but, I think it's rather incovenient for bass. (Automation etc) Or you would have to load up ALOT of basses.

Actually a lot of DAW's including live and reason have those swing patches :>

think the 4000 is better for dubstep than the 1000 or the 2500. Anything is usable though.

i like making beats on an mpc need to snag one and not just leave tracks on the ones at work

Just output the beat brobro, take it home for the arrangement and dodads. Or buy a used 4k for eight hundo.

i had one for a couple of years; really enjoyed it but wasn't worth the hassle, for me at least, of dealing w/ sync issues.

Me too, but even with the clearance price of a 2500, it's too much when you've got a pad kontrol and battery, fpc, or drum racks. Just can't justify it, too little bang for buck. 4000 for $800 is starting to get into the proper price range.

I owned a mpc 2000xl and mpc1000. I have to say they are fun to use. But for me they are too limited.
I had problems with how far their abilities could go, even with hiphop beats wich are more sample based.
I sold them and am purely working with cubase 5 and midicontrollers now.

For dubstep music mpc's are fun for live use. But imo not for producing it.
Dubstep needs alot of automation and tricks you can't do with mpc's. Or maybe you can but it will take
15.000x more effort.

suppose it depends on your dubstep.

If you make ds that sounds like this, a 4000 should do it, admittedly with more effort, but also with other benefits, so...
