Free Mastering? Are we crazy? - Examples now up!

Post by kidlogic » Fri Dec 29, 2006 9:45 pm

My roomate and I are offering free mastering services to anyone who needs it.

We are both recently graduated certified audio engineers who both attended the Los Angeles Recording School and we would like to gain experience and build our respective portfolios.

Our studio consists of Apple Mac G5 dual-core, ProTools 7 with digi 002, Wavelab (and a PC to run it on), the Waves Diamond Bundle and other assorted pro quality plug-ins and JBL LSR series speakers.

Understand that we are not (yet) profesionals with this and do not have years and years of mastering experience, but both of us have mastered tracks that have been played on big systems that sounded very good, but you be the judge. We are offering this service to get better at mastering songs, especially bass heavy genres like Dubstep and DnB. This is mainly meant for producers on this forum who need another set of ears to make your track sound as good as possible on a large system.

Give us a try, if you like our work, tell your friends, if you dont, dont use the version we send back.

Sorry, we do not have the capabilities to master for vinyl (yet), I am learning the specs and specifics for the future.

PM or email me (kidlogic42 at yahoo dot com) with questions and delivery options.

Do not send MP3's for mastering purposes, please have .wav files ready.

You are crazy...

:)

I might send a track or two your way, if you like. You're in LA, so I can just meet you at the Gumbo Pot at Farmer's Market on Fairfax and pass you a CD.

Sounds like a good idea. Big up left coast steppahs - I might have to throw some tunes your way so another pair of ears (or two) can grapple with them. That is if you aren't booked up already. ;-)

Peace.

Depends if you attempt to master them with a pair of butter knives and a plate of pasta bake or not.

yea generally it's best to have the audio flat out of the sequencer with no treatment at all.

To save any confusion, you can have compression on individual tracks, if that was what you were asking Bunzero - just leave out any overall compression/limiting on the master channel.
