Make a thread claiming you don't know how to promote your track when really you just made the thread so you could promote your track?

all about getting dj's to play your material-- which is all about creating personal connections w/ folks. it takes time.

In general, you as an artist finish a tune, test it locally, send it to a close circle of DJ's, get their interest, send it to a broader range of DJ's-- if it passes muster, then it's ready to go to labels for consideration. If it goes the other way, getting signed and released w/o that previous bit of dubplate pressure-- it's an uphill battle to get noticed amidst the noise of endless amounts of digital releases.

really the label and/or distro should do a pre-release about 2 weeks before the street date to the DJ's they service, in order to get it in rotation and (ideally) build some ground-up hype about the release. If done right, there's already some buzz about it from people's sets.

I'll be brutally honest tho: It's nearly impossible to get a digital release from a small label noticed if its done w/o a marketing plan and/or strategy--this is what labels are supposed to do. Yes, dubstep continues to be a community-based market and the #s are small compared to more popular forms of EDM, but any label that's surviving-- from Hotflush to Tempa to Road to Shift--has a strategy of who to contact, and how, and when, about their upcoming releases.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Monsieur Bànánâ Bômbér feigns general cluelessness... Which is not intended to be an insult, just an observation.

other cats have promoted their releases with little to no backlash from this forum. other cats have started threads "that have nothing to do with production" with little to no backlash from this forum.

My guess is since how BananaBomber is an active member of the production forum he figured "hey lemme share this news with these cats on here"

in any case...congrats!
