I bet the photographer was pretending his camera was a really big gun.

I was just leaving Primary school and i remembered all the teachers watching it as i was leaving. Once i got home my mum was watching it but i didn't care at that age as i didn't really understand how bad it was and didn't really care as i just wanted to play on the NES.

I was 15 at the time. I remember we were in the middle of class when the secretary called our teacher out of class. he came back with this crazy look on his face and told us what happened.....big assembly in the auditorium and the whole nine.

the majority of kids didn't give a rats ass. A few had parents or relatives who worked there. I had been there a couple of times so it was nuts.

i remember the day very well, i skipped college and woke up really, really late, like 4 in the afternoon. Me and all my mates at the time used Yahoo Messenger and when i logged on i got shit loads of PM's saying "America is under attack" and other messages along those lines. I thought, bollocks, flicked on the TV and every channel had this report, i was gobsmacked.

Yeah. When they announced it at school, it didn't seem that serious, but when everyone got home the gravity of what had really happened truly sunk in.

Seeing huge clouds of smoke billowing down NY streets quickly was one of the most surreal things I've ever seen. Seeing people jumping was quite possibly the most gut-wrenching and heartbreaking thing I've ever seen.

I got a phone call on my mobile phone and when I was told I waited for the punchline - thought it was a joke. Several years later and American foreign policy is still offensive, oh well, least they have the British egging them on.

not trying to start that debate on here again, but why were helicopters still flying about when all aircraft had been told to land? most of those pics were taken after both towers had collapsed, so that's at least a good 45 minutes after the FAA told everyone to get the fuck out of the sky (according to the timeline on wiki anyway). were police helicopters exempt? i thought it was just military/medical aircraft?

I feel sorry for anyone who believes that a couple of planes could solely create that monstrosity.

And for the nit pickers, jumbo fucking jets/planes, whatever they were...

The odd thing was that a friend of mine came up with a similar scenario involving the White House several years before in a (yes, I know, it's very geeky) in a roleplaying game. I however was on hand to save the day with my pyrokinetic powers.

it's good, an abomination like that need to be brought up all the time so people won't forget the danger they are in
us gov and uk gov regularly bring up news about possible new threats like these, but this way we can also remember who the real terrorists are and who declared war against the simple folks
wwII, vietnam war, hiroshima and all that started from similar events, not from the popular will

Before the tinfoil hat squad start foaming at the mouth in this thread, i just wanted to clear up the point about why the helis are flying. In NYC we have about 7 main local news TV channels. Each of those channels has a morning commute/ traffic segment that starts at around 6am and ends at about 10am. every single morning there are at least 6 helicopters hovering up over manhattan island. They film the highways and bridges that are the main arteries into manhattan. They each have a live tv camera going. This is why 9/11 was so over documented. Most of the major american cities, like LA, Chicago, Miami all have the same amount of helis flying every morning.

And finally, a large fuck you to anyone who finds humor in thousands of people dying.
