A New Label Post...
Hi guys...
Im Jason with 3rdRot, we are a newly started label, focusing on Dubstep and Drumnbass, though we are open to anything. We currently are releasing in digital, with plans too release on CD and connections being established with press mills for possible future vinyl releases. This will be a long road, and one we are prepared for. We arent claiming to be the next Hyperdub or Rottun, but, we are starting, and we are dedicated, which is more then many starting labels can say.
After talking too some members of this forum, I feel like it may be a great place to make this offer. We are a recently founded Digital label, looking for artists to release. Theres no catch, we offer 50/50 or higher percentage cuts, and we distribute on the major digital retailers (Juno and itunes confirmed, Beatport in the works) ... We can promise too give 100% of our efforts too getting your music sold and into the hands of DJs, promoters, and end listeners. We have established close ties with several blogs, as well as countless DJs too get tracks heard. We have several promotion slots on a variety of electronic music oriented websites and communities, as well as a dedicated team of both street and web promoters.
All mastering will be handled by very experienced engineers, and you will oversee the process as well as can be managed. Our masters are our friends, and we maintain a very close line of communication with them.
We are currently accepting demos at 3rdrot@gmail.com or on aim, S/N 'Thirdrot' ... Though our aim does not auto accept, we will approve and listen to everything as we can, please dont get frustrated, offer the transfer, and have patience.
Cant wait too see what this turns out...

Re: A New Label Post...
Yup you guys do seem pretty genuine about what you say and seem to have a good work ethic for this sort of thing,
what sort of dubstep are you interested in?
have you got any releases lined up?
if so / if not, what would the date be (roughly) that your aiming for, for the first release?
cheers

Re: A New Label Post...
We are interested in all varieties, we plan to do compilation albums sometimes, and we hope to touch down on a little bit of everything... Were looking for the good kind, haha... We are also very interested in DrumNBass, and have been talking with a number of dnb producers as well...
& Not as of yet, but, we have plans in place, we have had a few promising submissions, but, the goal is too do some more public searching for talent before we set anything in stone. The current plan is to build our roster of individual artist releases and get them all scheduled, and as we do, find a few select artists too go together on a compilation too mark the official 001 release. And we hope to get that done the start of April.
Thanks for the interest guys!

Re: A New Label Post...
Sounds pretty cool, sent a couple of things your way.
Re: A New Label Post...
Thanks for all the interest shown! I never thought we would get this many submissions so fast! We apologize if we dont get back too you right away, we will listen to and respond to all submissions in time.
Meanwhile, I have to add that we will not except Soundcloud or Myspace links as demo submissions. Only quality mp3s will be being reviewed. We have to take into account many questions of quality which low-quality streams cannot offer.
Sorry if this is an inconvenience! But we have to be selective when choosing who we are going too work with, and the links many of you provided raised more questions then they answered.

The myspace is newly established by one of my partners, the wordpress is our home until we get the coding of 3rdrot.com finished, and the soundcloud is for the dropbox.
Any questions, ask, and, as of last night, first releases were sent off for mastering previews. News in the blog as soon as we can announce details.

Where are you based? I've got a personal preference for uk labels. I know you're digital but it's something that still matters to me. Would the contract be for artist or for track and would we get to sign a hard copy?3rdRot wrote:Hi guys...

Sorry to grill but I'm pretty interested and need to know a little more.
Re: A New Label Post...
We are U.S. based, in Chicago.
All of our contracts can be signed hardcopy by mail if the artist prefers. As for artist or track, it depends on the release. We may make a bulk contract detailing all songs to be released through us, or, if the artist will be choosing us in the future for releases, we may draft the contract as such. These are fine details which are hard to discuss in vague terms. Contracts are drafted specifically to address the concerns and desires of the artists signing them though. If it is questions about our legal policies and contracts you have, please email us, and include 'To Matt' in the message subject somewhere. He is much more qualified to answer your legal concerns then I am.
Thanks for your questions, and I hope that helps.

Re: A New Label Post...
Haha, thank you Muta, glad you pointed that out, its fixed now.
Also, I am noticing a lot of cancelled AIM submissions.
As said above, please have patience. There are only six of us too control and sort all the submissions. Though the AIM account is checked multiple times daily by each of us, our lives make it impossible for us too be there to monitor for submissions constantly. Please have patience when submitting through AIM, offer the transfer and at some point shortly afterwords I'm sure one of us will check in too accept it. Have patience, we're sorry if this system is an inconvenience, but as of right now, it is our only option regarding AIM submissions.

Re: A New Label Post...
We have reviewed the submissions and members of our team will be contacting all of you over a period of the next few days. We have selected some of you too offer releases too, and others, sadly, we will have to deny. However, we will make an effort too contact everyone who has submitted tracks with as much feedback as possible, so that we may help you too perfect your craft to the point that we may consider it for our catalogue.
I thank everyone who submitted, of all the sites we posted calls on, this has been by far the most productive.
Please dont hesitate to continue submitting your demos though! We are constantly on the lookout for more talented artists who could benefit from our service, and we listen to everything we receive as a group. For those of you who have already submitted, please keep a close eye on your inboxes over the next few days, as you can expect a response from a member of our team.
