We're one of the few animals that has receptors for it to work properly, too. It's probably a massive coincidence (and every species probably has a plant which affects them narcotically and not everyone else), but it'd be nice if it was because some former high-tech civilisation had genetically engineered it to be the best fucking thing ever and then let their empire crumble and fall into the sea because they all got too stoned to keep it going.

my 1/8th a week friend tried giving up then 2 hours later he found some green and smeelled it and had to smoek it. it was like he was reunited with his long lost son or something. was funny but incredibly depressing.

and speaking of lavender a guy i know picked up a fat quarter and when he got back unwrapped it and it was a quarter of lavender hahaha. he thought he was solid as fuck and the main dealer though so he deserve it.

All in the genes and the proteins. Some species have just have stumbled into having crazy proteins tucked away in their DNA, and once they get encoded and folded they do all kinds of crazy stuff.

Cannabis is certainly one. It does't just smell good, but it's also psychoactive for like, 20 different reasons and it's fibers are strongest for making rope.
