i like the idea, i would offer to dj if i had some way of playing digital tracks, but i dont.

for me the best time would be either a weekday in the evening, or a weekend in the evening...gotta think about time differences in different countries for that one

Alright, i have seen these threads up for a little while now, but have had little time to go through them all and give my view on it, so here it is.
Basic A wrote:So, Sharmaji started a thread called 'How does the Production Forum Want too Share Music?' where I offered up use of BMills & I's streaming radio server and irc rooms too host a weekly/biweekly DSF podcast/chat session... Im starting this too see if thered be enough support for the couple of us on board now too start moving forward...
Glad to see DSF member's running up some positive stuff for the rest of the community. How would this IRC chatrooms work? is it just one big chat box for anyone to join on in? This sounds like its going to get a bit hectic, is there a function to have 1-1 chats too ? DSF Podcast... nice idea...
Basic A wrote:what does everyone think an ideal timeslot would be? I need something that wont conflict with that many schedules, Id thats easier said then done with a communitty that spans as much of the globe as this one...
Friday evening? for students it would be after College,Uni and even them school lurker that come on DSF :P. For adults it would be after work... So its good on both sides? or Aditionally, you could have Saturday evening.
Basic A wrote: who would be volunteering too DJ? The way I see it, we will cycle out DJs each show so someone fresh is usually in the mix, and then circulate back through the list as people will volunteer late/bail eventually. Im going to get a general access DSF account created tongiht so that everyone will be able to sign in remotely and host thier sessions...

The amount of djing that would be willing to help is plenty...! All you want to do is make a thread on the "dubstep" + Production section, saying, look were after DJ's for DSF podcast are you interested? leave you email address (thats you) and say email me, with a demo, and a bio. Of course not all dj's would need to do this because you would already known them, but on the other hand we dont want no discriminating agreements aswell.
Basic A wrote: How would you guys like too get your tunes in for the shows? If its a DSf show, naturally, it will feature DSF dubs... Im thinking about integrating my music exchange app in with it, so DJs could recieve submissions semi-live, sort of a request system... but, my exchange has been known too encounter problems on Mac's ... so what would be most ideal in everyones opinions? A soundcloud dropbox? Should we archive music and play indescrimantly or clear the list every week and only play fresh dubs?

For this one, i think i got a really good idea, but it got kind of a bad side (s) to it as well. While all these new threads about where DSF is heading is on, i remember reading one of Sharmaji post, while it was explaining that who you as a artist should be always making connections, with other artist and stuff, its not what you know its who you know, etc etc.Now my idea would be that for the tunes featuring on DSF by DSF members, then arist should him self, get the DJ the play his song. reason 1. Its taking the step forward from saying yeah yeah am going to try make some connections with others, but acullty do it in real.
2. Stops over load of dubs to DJ's, if you send up a soundcloud drop box, can you image the amount of songs you would have to check...?
However, like i said, i would have some down fall's too, some people might get left out, or you will get some bum liker's which is not the way you want it, you want to DJ's to play the producers songs, because they like it, rather then having to play it kind of out of free will. Plus there are some other implications too.

Hope this helped... (sorry for any bad English  )
A brand new song!

Yeah, but, your right, if I made a dropbox another note is that it would probably flood full of people who arent big on contributing around here but lurk too find places to get wheels/send demos... if the idea is a mix for DSF crew, then, I dont see why any of us would have trouble hitting each other up, anyone who actualy chills on here knows each other from around anyway, noone ever hits me up on aim and me not know who they are...

As far as ass kissin goes, I dont think youd have much trouble in a community like this, because we all basically know each others skill levels, and simple things like the DJs loyalites will rull all the asslickers out... only way I could see ass kissing is if non forum goers started trying too suck up for wheels...

And, well, I started the thread asking for DJs, here it is... if you want in, Pm me or AIM it or something, my links are over under my avatar and float around, Im not hard too find, only Basic A. I know of, pretty easy too track me down with that bit.

Nice idea it would be great to have a weekly thing. The problem will be keeping it fresh. Remember the chatroom talk and we ended up creating a chatroom outside DSF well it died after about a month.

A dropbox would be alright if you gave the password to the DJs for that week that way they can trawl through it and pick the dubs they enjoy. Other methods of sending tracks like AIM or PMs or emails are just hassle for producers

Fuck soundcloud, I got my own app we should be able too host on site and tie right into our DJ control panel for a dropbox, have it sit next too the IRC room...

Yes, IRC has private chat. Once again, not worried bout it gettin too cuttered either, streamizm never got that bad, and well have alot more control because everything is privately hosted and coded.

Im not worried of it diein, if it dies it dies, radios a bit catchier then chat though, and its a good promo outlet all around...

If I find DJs, its on. Not gonna edit the top post too include a schedule and description until I find some volunteers though, I know theres more DJs on here then me n bmills....

BTW,

Wednesdays
8pm GMT - 3pm EST - 12:00 PM WST

Sound good?

Well why in the hell weekends?

I refuse too accept that the people I chat with on here are total losers, lol, surely you guys leave the house on weekends, considering the 8 hour timezone stretch, Im assuming that on weekends, at 8pm, 60% of the listeners are out, chillin, cause there in the UK, its 8 on a friday/saturday, n there headin out too club or hang or get schwasted, same as we do...

Sunday perhaps? I just grabbed wednesday because thats when our IRC client will be stable, lol. DSF Monday? IDK...

Weekends seem off though, cause its either make cali wake up at like 8 in the morning on a weekend, or write the UK off cause there out bein social.

would prefer an hour earlyer tho... as i know from a friend who made a statistic at 1900 there are a lot of people coming back from work and would lock in... at least thats the interpretation why 1900 had most listeners...

good idea guys!

Word... what do you guys run over that way, simple shoutcast?

Same port, same extensions (pls), different guis n shit over here, lil more intuitive for rotating out DJs then the classic shoutcast i.m.o.

If you want in the mix, count it as on, I got faith in YOUR skills, some folks me n b will need demo, but, you can get in on the mix if your down, either way, Ill bear you in if we ever run into tech issues...

Im pretty much of the attitude if its not broke dont fuck with it though, so, hoefully, tech issues ll be few n far between...

those who want too DJ, pm/aim me n Im gonna get a list of the first couple shows togehter tonight...

And since wednesdays rough, cna we all agree on 8pm GMT on sundays?

uhhh

dubstep.fm is pretty complicated with a relay from a broadcast server

not a simple shoutcast login etc..

I'm down to DJ a set from time to time and submit tracks for play
