Gobe checking in. Here is side A of my contribution to the sub|division podcast. I am presenting my podcast as a two sided mix tape. When I was programing this mix, I wanted to really paint a picture of the many shades and strains of Dubstep, while also taking into consideration what I bring to the Big Reds sound equation. I also wanted to highlight my style of mixing & the tunes I drop in our sets at sub|div or other spots around the capital city.
First up is side A; call it 20 Flavours Of Baseface. A rough sub-rolling affair with plenty of wobbly facemelters & chestshaking basequakes. There are also two local dubs from the Lighta! crew that I like, “Soundkilla” by Max Ulis & “11C” by the brothers Daega (which will be dropping on their own new vinyl imprint Fathom Recordings – look for that later this year). To keep the extended Gobe farewell going, here’s the second installment of his sub|div podcast (peep the first half of Gobe’s podcast here). Big ups to all who came out to Hush this past Thursday for Theory – The Big Reds were on fiiiyaah kid. Big tunes dropped & a great energy. Here’s Gobe’s synopsis…
Gobe: “So here it is side b of the podcast… ”DeepLocalSubRollinPurpleFreakOut” - different ground & a different space on this go. As the last podcast was a fairly straight forward wobble session, this side goes into the deeper & rolling sounds of the 140bpm arena. It starts of with some purple flex followed by a swell of rolling subs, taking a serious tribal dub shake before blasting out into space on a supersonic annaconda. Throwing in a series of basequakes to bring you back to earth. With eyes on the finish line we step into layers of mental synths pulling you into a magnetic rain city
