Mic doesnt work in FL

Post by jittery » Mon Mar 15, 2010 11:07 am

To make a long story short:

I can record outside of FL studio (Windows recorder, yay! :y: ), but my mic doesn't show up in FL, since it apparently doesnt want to run via the ASIO driver. It only lets me choose either the mic or my USB soundcard, since the mic is USB, and doesnt run through the card. Now, this is pretty annoying since i want to record directly into FL, and not through the build-in recorder in Windows. (even though it does bring back good memories from when i was trying to compose hip hop as a kid, using it as a sequencer :D )

Well, if any one of you could give me some advice on how to solve this, i would be grateful

I love the online help from from Fl Studio's website. It has some great info in it. Now you didn't say which version of FL you are using or your sound card which would help.

This was taken from FL's online help file which is be found here http://flstudio.image-line.com/help/

"The problem: If you use the F10 audio settings to select your USB microphone, then you can't hear sound from FL Studio and if you select your soundcard you can't record your microphone. Most ASIO soundcard drivers only support one audio device, that means you can select either to your USB microphone or soundcard but not both at the same time. You need both!

The solution: ASIO4ALL allows you to select independent input and output audio devices within the same soundcard driver. This section will assist you in setting up ASIO4ALL to work with your soundcard (output) and USB mic (input) simultaneously."

Being that you have Fl Studio it comes with ASIO4All so that should solve your problem.

Hope that helps.
