How many people on here listen reggae?

Post by mistalime » Wed Mar 17, 2010 12:04 am

Easy DSF Fammle

Been on here for a little while now and I've always wondered how many people on here listen roots and dub or digi dub on the regular.

Roots personally is my thing, thats what I play out and have been for a few years now, I love mixing up the old dancehall, some roots vibes, old dub and new digi dub and dubstep.

Reggae has a universal sound that seems to infect atleast 75% of people inna dance. Maybe let this thread be a little thing where people post up some old head nod roots vibe or dub stepper that they been feelin and has influenced either their dubstep production or preference....

Post up your favourites, spread your knowledge and loves and let the music talk.

heres a couple of current percyingleberries.

And we hand it back over to the fat guy with the mash.

First genre I fell in love with, more into Dub myself as my screen name would tell you. Yes, the Dub in my name stands for Dub and not Dubstep. All about 1970-85 for me.

Lots o' stuff in here.

I love the grimy sound quality and incredible performance of classic roots and lovers rock stuff. Anything from the late 60's to the mid 80's is good for me. Quite a fan of early ragga/dancehall as well, Deejays toasting moreso than singers if it's a digital riddim. I like some new stuff too but I'm not a big fan of slack lyrics and pop production to be honest.

I love Cornell Campbell! Queen of the Minstrels, Aware of Love, Mash You Down, Stars, etc.
Horace Andy, The Mighty Diamonds, Burning Spear, The Abyssinians, all the more political guys.

before I started producing Dubstep I played bass in a ska, reggae, & dub cover band. Everything from Prince Buster to Max Romeo.

I first came across the word Dubstep when I was looking up a Dub podcast online, end up downloading an All stars mix with 'Lean Forward' 'Den of Drumz' and shit load of other classic tracks and thats how I started listenin to Dubstep
