M-Audio Torq / Conectiv

Post by blip » Mon Jan 15, 2007 1:52 pm

I've read the thread on Serato/FS etc, but am very curious about this one.

Attracts me, aside of price, for versatility, being able to use it as an effects machine interface, audio card, the VST thing, to connect to Ableton, mixing and etc. etc.

Anyone using it? Doing some or all of the above? Care to do a (mini)review? Keith P?

Merci.

Been using for about a month, mainly using with just a mixer.

Very happy with it so far..........

A friend of mine that works for Guitar Center (if you are from London and dont know about GC just wait... they're coming, for better and worse) and he is in love with it. Said that the only prob hes had is with dirty needles same as on Serato or any of them. I really like the idea of having not only 3 individual effects inputs for each channel, but a 16 pad sampler controlable with the M-audio Trigger Finger and the ability to rewire to Ableton Live. From what I understand you can use the BPM of the records (which it figures out automatically) as a clock for Ableton. I has some other dope features, but as with anything I would wait till at least ver 1.2. Check out this video for DJ Revolution putting it through its paces - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnSlhIciHgk

talked to a friend of mine who's apparently one of their testers...he said they've got a new controller coming out that more or less mimics the interface of the software so you can control it all in realtime. there is a shot of something with nice glowy buttons on it out as well as well...presumably they'll be announcing it at NAMM so we'll see what we get :)

Hey, thank you all.
I guess it is very hard to make up your mind without actually using one, but you did help. Now let's find a friendly shop with a demo...
