Shure SRH840 Headphones...

Post by alphacat » Thu Apr 08, 2010 12:10 am

...got a sterling write up that I read recently - supposed to be on par with $600 pro cans and with more clarity and presence in the low end.

Interested because lately I seem to be doing a lot more headphone monitoring.

Anyone tried 'em yet? Where the fuck is that gearwhore Deadly Habit anyway? :t:

I've been using them for 4 months now and I love them. They don't color sound at all so you know what you're hearing is authentic. It takes some use for them to break in but other than that they're really nice.

i use them as well, and i think they're fantastic.
i'm constantly paranoid about the cord making a bad connection to the headphone or shorting out though.

I read something about a break-in period, but then that's true for most any 'phones. Interesting. I guess there was a deal on them for $129 but I think it's over - can't find it again for the life of me.

You nerds.

[giggle]

I won't make any of the usual GC jokes about "Stairway to Heaven" or "what software does ____ use?"... but it's pretty damn hard to restrain myself. I've known a few other GC employees and they all seemed kind of bitter about music after they'd worked there a while. Completely understandable too. Some of you guys deserve medals for patience, while others need to get fuckin' popped in their smug face across the counter. Something tells me you guys are the former.

Anyway, back to the Shure cans-

The DT's are out of my budget right now (spending all my money on diapers & baby food man!) so when I heard about these 'phones was stoked. I do know that w/ most music gear you get what you pay for - was just hoping these'd be the wonders they were touted to be without me having to see for myself. Should've known better though.
