FL Studio owners: I challenge you

Post by MidnightMassDubstep » Sun Apr 18, 2010 2:43 am

I challenge you to make a tune using only sounds that are included in FL. Not TOO much of a challenge really, being as they do provide a pretty good amount of material for a massive club banger, but it may provide a certain amount of inspiration to divert from your usual schema of opening your vengeance samples and inserting massive into your step sequencer then using a shitload of vst's to make a sick wobble... I gave it a go for half an hour or so (then gave up because it's nearly 4am and I want to go to bed now) and I decided I'd give my wobbles a break and did a melodic sub centered track with the 808 samples included. Post your results here, these aren't going on wax (probably) so don't be too critical of yourself, just see how far you get...

Here's my 30 minute attempt, I'll post the finished thing on soundcloud at some point:

I think i'll give this a go tommorrow. :)
What are the rules on VST fx? :P
A musician must make music, an artist must paint, a poet must write, if he is to be ultimately at peace with himself. What a man can be, he must be.

Stock vst's allowed like 3xOsc etc? Third party fx allowed? Might give it a bash.

I usually use only FL vsts anyway. Percussion samples from all over the place, but no reason couldn't make those sounds with fl :D

Track in my sig only uses the x3Osc.

Are we allowed to program our own synths or do we have to use the presets?

You can program your synths, yeah, but you just have to imagine that you have brought a brand new computer and you have absolutely nothing else, no massive, albino, reason rewire or anything, only the samples and synths that come with fruity loops... I'd be a pretty bad judge so does anybody else want to be a judge and set a deadline..? It was intended as a personal challenge but a competition might be a good idea :)

Ahh thanks man  :D , i just hit a wall with it though atm i think aha. So far i've went back and put more variation in the percussion as it was really repetitive but the pads still seem quite repetitive lol.
