Ive been using reason 3.0 for about 2 years now, ive started understanding eq and frequencies and stuff but reason is the shittest program for eqing

, i would love to see a spectrum analyser in reason, that dont mean the vocoder being used as one, i would also love to see waveform, Its so frustrating any one got any reccomendations or other daw's to use? I was thinking about cubase
This is a tune i made on reason 3.0, I like it but i think the kick drum is too weak, what do u lot think? its frustrating me
Soundcloud
Cheers guys

+1 to all of the above points....
EQ is shit, Sequencer is shit, Get ableton and ears > analyser.
But again, just opinions. I really rate reason's synths and everything except the EQing ability and the sequencer....but swings and roundabouts innit! I don't use an analyser, I I just really don't get on with EQing in Reason.

You dont know how to use it!
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

DAWs are all the same really so moving to another one wont help you make better music.
Spend more time with what you have and the doors of possibility's will open for you.

Reason is not the reason your kick sounds shit really. Layering and subtle distortion, eqing all help.
I was rummaging through the archives on here a few months back and saw advice from Untold that you should make your samples as loud as possible before sequencing .
untold wrote:I used to seek new gear as I thought it was going to improve my sound. I wish someone would have told me this:
Make your samples as loud as possible before sequencing them
Sculpt the individual sounds you want by combining samples
Learn about envelopes, lfos, compressors and EQ
Finish your tunes
Certainly helped me get a bit more of a crisp sound in Reason when loading samples. Usually put my loops through recycle and increase the gain by around +8 to +10 before sequencing. Anyone else do this?

for the records, I use Ableton AND Reason, and find pro's and con's with both of them.
But then again, this is probably too far through my post for you to read as you stopped when you got the bit you didn't like last time
(meeeeeow)
