FUKIN MINISTRY OF SOUND

Post by kianm » Tue May 04, 2010 7:43 pm

im sorry but im pissed off now.its bad enough that they've even done a dubstep compilation, but to then go and put a couple of decent tunes on there us too much. they can put that midrange shit on it all day, infact just dedicate the whole thing to rusko and cookiemonsta and all them clowns for all i care.BUT DONT PUT RESPECT TUNES ON THERE, because theyre just destroying them. i mean why did they have to go and put any dmz on there, not to mention like one of my favorite burial tracks. i dont want these pricks to start liking burial! straight. thats all i have to say.peace

if there is to be a representation of dubstep to the average punter, i would rather it showed what dubstep really is... rather than mis-educate a new band of DUBSTEP IZ SIK WUB WUB listeners with a mid range noisefest.

then one day, when people ask what music i like/dj etc... maybe i can be proud once more to say dubstep

fair enough, and in an ideal situation, we'd have a cd full loefah, distance, mala ect.. but thats not the case, and to be honestly im kinda glad because when it comes down to it WE HAVE BETTER MUSIC TASTE THAT YOUR AVERAGE JOE, straight.and i dont want everyone knowing about it. i like the fact that im the only person i know except my girl that listens to burial (and even then i show him to her), i just wish they wudnt expose everyone to such good music.

i would love it everyone could listen to and appreciate burial and dmz and that ilk...
whats the problem with ppl likeing the same music as you?
wtf, you say dont expose ppl to good music, when in the same fuckin post you rip on them for not having a music taste as good as yours?
how the hell are they supposed to develop a better music taste if they dont get to hear the good music?
if you cant see your own blatant hypocrisy then its due to your selfish need to keep music (in this case burial) your own.
fuck off, youre no better than the people you deride.

edit: lol i jus wrote out this long post then saw everyone elses replies.
i feel i went a bit overkill now

well not really. your average guy isnt going to appreciate sumone like burial, or mala or a countless other artist. they just wont. and im not just making this up, iv spoken to enough people, been to enough raves, and enough housepartys (where i made the mistake of slipping a burial tune into a mix, and everyone was like
"What the fuks this I CANT MAKE OUT WHAT THE VOCALS ARE SAYIN") can you fukin believe that.
So what im sayin is that im pissed of that tunes such as anti-war dub are put onto such a shit compilation, because most of the people listening to it wont appreciate tunes like that.

Everyone has to start somewhere though surely?

As ohers have said if it gets people to do a bit of research and producers like DMZ get more exposure thats a good thing imo

Does this mean they shouldn't be given the opportunity to discover them?

dude was nominated for a mercury music prize, he's had radio exposure and people do know about his music. get off of that high horse, champ. people are entitled to the chance to hear whatever music is out there. it's people like you that damage a scene more than the people that happily go about hearing what they want.

no your right, but come on lets be real, if they really wanted to learn a bit more about 'dubstep' with a bit of research, they cud have discovered burial and listened to both of his albums, all in the space of like 3hours. i dont really think theyd care much too do that though
