Posting in here is pointless

Post by SketchyDub » Sat May 08, 2010 1:47 pm

Can someone delete this section or just clean it up or something, too many people look at a track and dont even bother to write "its shit" i'd rather that than nothing at all!

anyway, tune i would like opinions on is in my sig, i don't normally make that kind of tune, usually more jump up stuff... let me know if i should continue or go back to filthy stuff.

I liked it. I personally prefer the more subtle side of the genre over the crazier mid wobble heavy stuff. Nothing wrong with that stuff, I just find myself enjoying the heavier sub influenced stuff more often. I think the one thing I didn't like was that snare thing you got going on there in the beat. It felt like it was trying to compete with the flow of the rest of the track.

As for posting here? Yea I agree, for the most part it's pointless unless you're one of the more well known users of the forum. But you can say the same for just about any of these producer forums. I posted here a couple times, I think each one got like 4 views before it was pushed off the front page and into the limbo that is anything not "page 1". So now I'll just put a track in my sig and every so often I might get a comment on it.

yeah man, I really like this. Take the amen-snare-break part down in the mix a bit and it'll be great.

I think you should definatly carry on along these paths, at the end of the day, jump up is for kids :p

Feeling this man, agree with the comments about the snare tho, think if you changed/tweeked it a little it would sound fresh. Keep it up man, its good to hear producers with a variety of dubstep styles.

feeling this one. i thought the snear bit was ok, maybe just low pass filtter and bring it down in the mix a little making it more of a litter shuffel sort of sound.

anyways, keep at the deep stuff id like to hear more.

I love the DnB type vibe this has, which I guess is the result of your past production :e:
But I also agree that the snare isn't big enough for the rest of the track, if that makes sense.
Maybe layer another one or two snares with different qualities (how they sit in the frequency spectrum and it's stereo placement) which would beef it up nicely ;)

On the topic of "Posting in here is pointless", I do agree that people should just say they're not into it rather than listening and not saying anything, but that would be in an ideal world which, unfortunately, this world is far too far from ;)
But yea, pointless or not, it's always nice to get feedback from those who take the time to give it and sometimes you can give people a tune that they really love. It also works the other way round - I encountered some quality tunes on here tonight and ended up PMing them for an mp3 :e:

There's good stuff in here, you've just got to find the tunes that create a spark within you ;)
Debut album "Bass, Space, Pace & Peace" out now on Methodology Recordings!
Cheers to all supporters and those who've dropped tracks in their shows!! :e:

yes mate, I agree about posts getting "lost". I am new to the dubstep scene and have recently found this site. I put a mix on to try and get some feedback. I have always been into techno and stuff like that and wanted too understand more about how dubstep should be mixed (although after listening to various mixes from other people i'm not sure if there is a particular 'way' and how I could improve my mixes. I got a few people viewing my post but no feedback..good or bad. I'm a big lad, i can take criticism and feedback and to be honest, without it, i can't get any better.

my suggestion would be to have a section for "up and coming" DJ's and producers to showcase their talents instead of mixing it in with the big guns.

how could a mix/track by somebody like me or you get noticed when it's sandwiched between the likes?

i've listened to your track mate and it's a good tune. I't's not my style but i like it all the same. keep up the good work!#

Peace!

This presents a huge challenge to the modern marketer. We all see social media and the real-time web as a pot of gold at the end of the proverbial rainbow. But with these new media awash in so much “pointless babble,” finding success with social media marketing is akin to trying to find that rainbow against a psychedelic sky of endlessly flashing colors.

I feel what you're saying tbh man, whenvever i come in here i try and make it a task to listen to people's tracks and leave at least 5 pieces of feedback and comments before posting my stuff and alot of the time i don't get much at all in return =/. I know my tracks aren;t that great at all but i don't post in here expecting everone to tell my stuff is great but some constructive feedback and comments how i could improve and what i'm doing that i should keep up etc.

Feeling your track btw, the bass was really weell done imo, thought with a touch of reverb that snare could fit quite nicely into the atmosphere of the rest of the track. :)

thats cool man i respect that! good that some people actually go out of their way to help others!! yeah i think im gonna do another mixdown tonight, add some reverb on that snare to give it some tail, just add a few more bits here and there! but thanks about the bass comment, i never usually think i get sub bass nailed, but i proper tried on this tune and it shows it can be done!

Ah this is awesome dude! veryyyyyyyyyyyy distance-like, love it man. only thing is there could be more sub, more like little things you can add for instance the bass high passing at the end of a bar or something like filtering out then going back to normal, variate the drums a bit more. but apart from that im digging it dude! just goes to show alot of good stuff does come out of this forum, just people need it shoved in their faces so they can actually see it! good work
