Calling any dubstep heads that have an iPhone, Rebel Sonix has teamed up with the reactive music guys RJDJ to produce 'The Dub Engineer'.
RJDJ is a new hands-on way of listening to and interacting with music and is a free app for the iphone. RS has produced a reactive scene that allows the listener to trigger dubby snares by tilting the phone face down and also control a dub delay level by tilting the phone to the right. The music is built largely upon sounds from the surrounding environment producing a warped sound that is always completely unique. Imagine having a track that is organic, fluid and never sounds the same way twice. This is a cutting edge listening experience that represents a truly exciting development for music production.

Props to Sonix graphics Don Mr G for the Dub Engineer artwork.
Its pretty cool app all together... The snares are a bit hard to control properly though. Kind of come up as differnet sounds and not everytime you flip in upside down. Still nice ambiance in the sounds. Looked like a weirdo using it on the bus tho!

Hey dude. Nice 1 for checking out the scene. Yeh the idea with the snares was to have 4 different sounds as I felt it would be a bit boring with the same sound everytime. To trigger the snares, u have to turn it face down everytime u want to re-trigger. Defo takes a bit of getting used to! How did u get on with the dub delay control??

Yeah echo delay is good, works nicely with high end sounds and vocal stuff... made a nice one on the bus today. Any plans to add some screen touch parts to the scene? Some kicks or something...?

Cool glad u like it. As for adding screen touch parts, its difficult to have a 4 page scrolling system and have touch screen triggers for kicks for example. That would work well on a 1 page scene tho. Dude why don't u do some recording with the scene and upload it to RJDJ me. Would love to hear it!!

I've uploaded one, need to upload the ones I did on the bus... they sounded nice! You should start a thread here where people can post some up...
Hey dude. Yeh I'll do that. Gonna have some new scenes coming soon too so i'll keep u posted. Any ideas of things u think would be fun then let me know!!
The only thing I can think of would be a bit more control over the sounds and how they were activated. Maybe some drum pattern options/additions or a melody maker thing could be cool. Not sure about the technology so its hard to suggest things but a volume fade would be a nice thing as when you record you have to just stop it dead and can be a bit jarring.

Good luck with it
Nice 1 mate - good to get ur thoughts. I know what you mean with the fadeout thing. Those things are all doable for sure. Cheers
there is a new crazy thing called "Rj Voyager" out for the iPad, which features a great Dubstep like interactive music track with a heavy bassline.
this track features great vocals from Kirsty Hawkshaw who some of you may remember from the earlier days of techno

Hows the app going bro? Was it a success? You cold chillin in the Maldives, on a yacht with the top 50 High Street Honeys 2010 yet?
