People into dubstep from the start, how do u feel now?

Post by feasible_weasel » Fri May 14, 2010 9:40 am

8) 8) not been here for some time...as i listen to future garage now
skreams track felt alot like what wiley was doing in the minimal way...something basic and melodic, enjoyable
the wobble and 1 kick tracks kicked in...everybody from the old skool, was getting fed up with everybody making these generic tracks...but seeing as to make it into clubs..the sound needed to turn into dance music..now we have skitzo robot wobbled and kicks and a clap..and ppl being seperated....
so now its into the clubs..but miles away from the minimal eski-beat feel from 2003...people are making a living..but its now pop culture...

anti-socials non 140 stuff could be the new way, something new could develop and music always does, or it's autonomic for me. Like what happened to garage and the dubstep sort of evolved out of it. something new will happen im sure. It feels abit emarassing to say dubstep now, because people like mt eden and doorly haha. Just my opinion.

the forum used to be more friendly and no one made fake accounts trying to be other people, i guess the growth of the seen has brought alot more immature gimps to it aswell.

Been into garage since late 90's... I still like the stuff thats coming out now tho, not all of that shit thats just filth for the sake of it, but there is still good stuff around.

I'm also into the minimal vibes. But to be honest, for me it's a thin line between the dubstep I listen to and the garage and minimal dnb. For example: I like listening to the stuff from autonomic but also
the tunes from Distance, Actress and many more.

Bottom-line: Just listen to whatever you like. There are a lot of innovating dubstep artists out there, the fact
that the omgwobblez are popular doesn't mean you have to listen to it :) Oh and I'm not hating on
good wobbley tracks, hehe.

not the start as I was only about 9/10 :P

but 2006ish, and tbh now I kind see all this bassy Dubstep / Funky / Garage / House / Techno / DnB stuff as one scene.

For example the new ST holdings Release Sheet you have;

Doc Daneeka on PTN,
Guido Album,
Calibre Deep Medi,
West Norwood Cassette Libary (+ Brackles Remix)
Ital tek,
SBTRKT EP
SCB
Stray on Critical
and Space Dimension Controller

All good enough for me to think of them as worth buying! That's a hell of a lot of good music for one week, and that's just one distributor!

I just love the whole range of 125-140bpm bass music that's spawned from this whole thing. All the new funky, house and 130bpm+ garage that's emerging is wonderful.

definitely think things are progressing in a good way. 70% of the stuff on Beatport's dubstep homepage sounds like one monotonous track to me, but you also have producers who are doing their own thing (Guido, Starkey, Phaeleh, Joker, etc.). Them guys are what makes it interesting, and you can pretty much ignore the fact that every permutation of a wobble rhythm has been put on tape at this point. "Oskillatah" kinda blew my mind when I first heard it, but I'm glad that the initial trance of the wobble has pretty much worn off.

i've not been into dubstep for all that long, but i'm finding rather than saying "my favourite genre is dubstep" that i just like certain sounds, its all music and i love hearing different influences in dubstep.

theres different elements in dubstep that i like and i don't like though, and i don't exclusively like the minimal stuff or the harder stuff. i do tend to find myself thinking "thats not even a noise i like the sound of" alot though

pretty much this, i just like a lot of different electronic music, i'd never want to limit myself to just one genre and exclude any others... except maybe gabba

edit: got e4 on in the background and hollyoaks just came on, with that jackwob remix of starry eyed as tune at the beginning. this is something i can say displeases me about the way dubstep seems to be going :q:

Forgot to add that I used to tell people I was into dubstep, but now don't bother as the term no longer reflects my taste.
