Okay friends, have been trying to figure out how to take a crack at dj'ing, been looking at dj midi controllers. Here is what I've found so far. Please lemme know if I'm missing anything and I'll post it up in this list. Please lemme know your opinions on these if you have any experience with them.

i own total control. the faders and eq pots feel cheap as hell, but besides the plastic it's made of, it's a pretty fine device. survived one 6-hour long gig, plenty of practise hours and being carried a bunch of times around the town from rehersal to rehersal without ever malfunctioning. if you're looking for a cheap tool to learn beatmatching and other basic techniques with - look no further imho. if you got more cash though, invest into something less plasticky.

another important thing to mention is that the drivers are very solid and the integration with bundled software is flawless.

done, will try to dig out future models coming out too since i think allen and heath have some coming and gemini too etc, just no clue where i put the documents i got from rep who brought the shit back from namm for me

the first batch had some build issues with them catching fire, but they've been solid since then. the ns7 has been discontinued for the ns7fx which is the same thing with the old fx piece built in.
they def are pretty close to vinyl, my only gripe is the platters are obviously only 7" plates

just coming from a vinyl background mixing anything besides 12" cueing is a bitch and any necessary platter adjustments if you don't ride the pitch...
10" is a lil harder, 7" ick
what's nice about the ns7 is you can adjust the tension of the "vinyl" on the slipmats on the "platter"

I have a preference for traktor, only because I've messed with it a bit, and felt that it was really easy to use. Don't know what else is out there really. Usually all these interfaces say they come with some stripped down version of some software, excepting the torq I guess.

When'd u leave gc, and why?

if you're djing a genre with as little a bpm difference as dubstep or not blending genres or doing anything creative
beatmatching becomes a remedial tool
digital offers more options for being creative
from reg decks to cdjs to new digital options
