ableton 7 keeps crashing when i record audio

i'm using a mic to record vocals into live 7, and when i apply effects to the short audio recordings i make ableton crashes. what is going wrong? when i apply effects to audio that i import this never happens...??? :?:

to be fair, ableton is a buggy program which crashes regardless.

i don't meant that in hate. i used ableton from time....but it IS a buggy program. especially 8. but at the same time i know heads that use 8 and have had no major problems. even few minor problems. so who knows.
