Just spotted some neat sample use

Post by serox » Wed Jun 09, 2010 9:17 am

I have just found someone on youtube who uploaded clips from a film. Out of the 5 or so clips he has uploaded I can see 4 samples that were turned into hooks and/or melodies by a well known producer.

I have never heard of anyone else mention where he got these samples from and none of his tracks have any comments saying where they come from so I think its kinda quiet. I really like the blokes music and always thought some bits were sounding quite amazing but they were the samples :)

These samples are the atmosphere and the melody and without them the tracks would be nothing. With the samples they are fucking mint :D

Is it normal for producers to make 4 or 5 tracks using samples from the same film?!
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

Yeah, Just look at Caspa. Every tune he writes has a sample from Snatch or Lock,Stock and two smoking barrels in.

Yeh but thats just some cheesy vocal snaps.

I am talking about serious samplings like Burial stuff. The guy I am on about is alone the same limes and has made whole tracks around the samples.

No wonder I couldn't get that sound right. Its from a film where they have a full on 100 person orchestra or something lol.

If you make decent music out of it i dont think it matters, plus burial used MGS samples bare times, tunes still sound so sick

True. But I cannot think of any melodies taking from films that he used.

I love it, I think :) has opened my eyes big time and has made me hates vsts even more hehe.

Nowaysj: Pm received fella. Check the links I just sent you for the sources. Wicked stuff eh?

I felt like a kid when I had the eureka moment and everyone watching the film must have thought I was nuts. Seriously spine tingling hooks sampled from a massive film:D

Nah I am talking Dubstep fella.

Big guys, sick production, BIG groove. Big producer in my eyes because of the amazing feeling the tracks have. He is the closest guys I have heard to Burial but still keeping things fresh and original;)

You need to get much closer to Burial than those two :)

It does not seem right to reveal a producers samples source when they are quite unique and unknown. What do you think?

It is a very good source and it has loads more that I am all over :p

If I saw enough people say they think its cool to post names of artists and the source then I will consider it.

I dont think I would like it myself :)

I can tell you that on Untrue the majority of voc samples came from the Bullet Boy Film and the Metalheadz Doc on Youtube... see it wasn't that hard people sniff these things out for themselves anyway.
