Scanned Synth Pro No-Brainer - Pay what you want.

Post by b_lee » Thu Jun 10, 2010 1:17 am

Hi guys.

Just thought I'd point out that there is a really good VSTi synth out there for DnB, Dubstep, Grime and IDM sounds that's going for DIRT CHEAP.

It originally sold for $99 USD, but now it's "Pay Whatever You Want." (Donationware).

Check it out here: http://www.humanoidsounds.co.uk/products.html

Scanned Synth Pro isn't for classic reeses, but you can definitely make other types of Dubstep and DnB basses with it that sound quite different than the rest of the pack due to the fact that this synth uses scanned synthesis instead of the standard VA, FM, Wavetable, Additice, etc.
One thing this thing is good at is Dubstep Wobbles...but again...very different than what you'd get from VA or FM. The basses this thing makes have some serious grunge lol.

Two things SSP are NOT: A buggy piece of shit or a SynthEdit creation.

BTW, no, I'm not getting any kickbacks for mentioning this. I feel bad for John (the developer), as it's a good product and I gather it just didn't work out for him for whatever reason.

I've made a YouTube video showcasing some of its sounds:

Maybe John doesn't have an automatic delivery system and has to do it "manually"? I have to deliver my own products personally as well and sometimes people email me wondering where their download link is, not realizing that I don't have an automated system and have to give it to them the "old school' way until I get one installed and running.

BTW, guys...here's a bit of Scanned Synth Pro trivia: I did the following factory presets for it:

BASS BeefyDigi
BASS Bleeding Ears
BASS Chaos Drone
BASS Digitalis
BASS DirtyWhore
BASS DnBRulez
BASS DnBScanner
BASS GetFreaky
BASS MetallicTaste
BASS MightyMorphin303s
BASS ModwheelScan
BASS Platinum
BASS Psyonyx
BASS SyncingFeeling
BASS TekSteppe
FXM PlayLowAndSlow (MW)
LEAD Aural Oddity
LEAD BobAndWeave
LEAD Comin'Attcha
LEAD CutThruAMix
LEAD HonkySpeakers
LEAD Lukewarm
LEAD PanetWeird
LEAD ScanForGhosts
LEAD SetToStum
PAD ChaoticDisposition
PAD CyberneticCellos
PAD FMGoneWrong
PAD FalseHope
PAD GrooveKordz
PAD HiveMind
PAD Hysterics
PAD LureOfRiches
PAD MartianSunrise
PAD RoseColoredGlasses
PAD SeaOfEmotions
PAD SimpleAndWarm
PAD StonedOutCyborgs
PAD TransposeDown2Oct
PAD WarTornMecha
PAD WarmToCold

If I had known about Dubstep back then, I would have made some good wobble basses as SSP can certainly do it :).

Exactly this! How strange. Doesn't Reaktor really have unlimited synths in effect? Lol

Hmm...I just tried those skins, but couldn't get them to work :(. I would have liked to have all the controls on one page.

Anyhow, how's Scanned Synth working out for you guys? I've been playing around with it a bit after it's been just sitting on my hardrive for 2 years and holy hell this thing is a subbass monster! I've got some cool wobbles out of it, but the subs...omg THAT's where it's at :) Throw a LowShelf on your Master Filter and keep it at about 60 Hz, then hit the lowest notes while having your girlfriend sit on the subwoofer...I guarantee it'll put a big ol' smile on her face :).

Not like I needed another synth but I copped this and I must say I was immediately impressed, great for getting growling synth sounds real quick.
