Artcrime a.k.a Circo Inverso - Still Travelling 2010 (Psicotropicodelia Music, RPTDM004, 2010)

Image

Greek dj and producer Chris Markou - a member of Mystery Train band, which had the "Song of The Dead" track released at our P.M. Vol. IV compilation - has sent us this album in 2008, then we took sometime to listen it...

But When we did it... The "Still Travelling" title describes, in all possible ways, such sensations... Dreams, movies, abstractions, visual arts, poetry, paranoia, delirium and a meeting of organic timbres, hip/trip-hop beats and psychedelic effects.

Since then it has been one of our received items notable for its crescendo through our minds. There's not much to say, its all written in details by its own author in the artist release.

Cubus - Todas as coisas estão no lugar EP(Psicotropicodelia Music, PTDM026, 2010)

"All Things Are Into Place", are really they? At least on these 5 tracks, we guarantee that, YES:

Cubus, an electronic project based in Rio de Janeiro, deliver us a delirious sound which will please fans of electro/acid, breakbeats, idm and trip-hop.

The work is much diverse, but there is a strong link between the parties: downtempo/trip-hop/idm, at their most abstract [think of Laika, Gus Gus & Lamb], opens and closes the ep; the “filling” presents several variations on experimental electro, from the heavier/tense "Adore", through the broken one [with robotic vocals] "Bukowski" to the oldschool techno [with a hint of acid house] "Mata Hari".

Pill - P-Type (mini-album) (Psicotropicodelia Music, PTDM027, 2010)

Image

In his second work at Psicotropicodelia, Mario "Pill" Cavalcanti follows his gamemaniac logic, "going many stages further" when compared to the MU.S.GA EP.

With 13 tracks and less than 20 minutes long, "P-Type" delivers a much more varied - and superior - mixture of references: 8-Bit/ Chiptunes, Electro, Breakbeat, interludes with one foot in minimalist electronica [Ambient and Dark Synths], Hardcore Oldschool Techno, Rave-Era Techno/House, etc.

Amusing, criative and without "frills", this mini-album is [also in its artwork, with simulates the visual from cd/cartridge games] one more item that sucessfully unites a soundtrack-y concept and [good] experimental e-music.
