Chicago House

Post by string » Thu Jul 08, 2010 8:02 pm

I wanted to create a thread on Chicago House to find some gems

I'm pretty new to the genre, the first bit I picked up was the Virgo reissue LP, then Tevo Howard - Move, Mr Fingers - Slam Dance, and the "Beat That Bitch With A Bat" Trax repress,

This Steve Poindexter bit has really floored me though, feeling the mad percussion

And this one is also a favourite

I'm interested to know what everyone else rates in Chicago House, so post up your gems

Seek out the Ghetto Divisons podcast for XLR8R. Go from there.

You can't have a Chicago thread without some Marshall Jefferson...

He danced for eighteen hours staring straight into the sun, until at length a great vision came... He believed the world was made of shadow and that he could dream himself into the real world that lay beyond...

for acid house, the best one (in my opinion) is the Jack The Box mix Hardfloor did for the X-Mix series back in 1998. it's amazing.

on a less strictly acid tip, the Dave Clarke compo Back in the Box is quite tasty.

as far as web mixes go, Chrissy Murderbot's Chicago house mix is well worth checking out
