He took me to see the new paintwork and the new plans, and meet the sound engineer who is responsible for the most anticipated refit ever…

Saw the plans...can't give too much away but can say... The orientation of the dancefloor is gonna change completely. Dj booth on other side

Horn loaded funktion 1 and cabs to go completely. Replaced by....

new sound system at plastic will be 3-way passive studio monitors, like listening in a big studio. It is basically gonna be a huge hi-fi.

Dj booth will be where entrance to dancefloor is... Hard to explain... You will have to wait and see...

Plans for dj booth look great, but yes djs who wanna know... I asked what the mixer would be ... The Formula sound is staying...

Hmmmm. Getting rid of the Funktion 1? Are they nuts?! Bad move in my ears. I don't care if they get some Genelec's in. Studio monitors are designed with the most neutral frequency response in mind, they are not designed to flatter or sound pleasing to the ear. A bit worried that if they aren't using separate subs the bass response isn't going to be as heavy. Because of the way monitors are designed to be accurate they might be harsh and fatiguing on the ears, listening for a few hours. Saying that the sound engineer will probably tweak it after install so hopefully it will impress and prove me wrong!

I cant believe there getting rid of the Funktion One's but i do understand why they want the effect of having a big studio because alot of the nights producers will showcase there beats etc

yeah PP really didn't need to be tinkered with at all really.

it was perfect as it was, at least from a punter's point of view. although i know loads of DJs hate that mixer. they should have just changed that and left the rest as it was.

I meant with the council reviewing Plastic People’s license I hope in order for them to keep it running they haven't made them change anything too much. As they said it was reviewed because
"Prevention of public nuisance & Prevention of crime and disorder" guess that's why the sign got replaced pretty quick. They want it tidying up. We were happy with it the way it was, its called "Character" Hackney Council. Clearly they wouldn't be sorting them out with new kit more likly telling them you can't have the new system over a certain SPL limit at certain times. Hopefully not tho.

The DJ booth used to be at the join between the dancefloor and the bar, when it very first opened.

pure speculation of course but i wonder if the refit will include better sound insulation, so any neighbours dont get frustrated...
