Jack beats !?!?
A lot of people think they're annoying cuz they are in between all those genres and have a foot in and the other out of each genre... i think they have serious bass going on...
im still trying to figure out what the heck could produce a sound similar as this one...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5sKt3ohkOP4
what do they modulate!?! .. im especially puzzled by the ''dial'' sound at 1:10, at the end of the phrase.
i hear some kind of formant filter... but it seems like they use such modulation often... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uw_rLFGh-XM... other example ..although i def hear the lowpass on that one...
anyone got a clue.. cuz it would be a whole other modulation avenue for me to explore!

i know they use albino for stuff and a few hard synths but that's it
Re: Jack beats !?!?
There's a YouTube tutorial here re; how to get that sound in Reason;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dh3dLVvX1FM
If you're not Reason head, then I'd recommend Albino as a VST, bouncing out your patterns with various LFO rates to get different wobbles, then chopping up and resampling it back in, effects chain it up etc etc.
If you're not clear with Albino, there is a good tutorial on getting that sound here - http://www.bedroomrecords.co.uk/musicproduction.htm
Once you've sorted the basics it'll just be a case of twiddling the parameters until you get a sound you are happy with, then layering and resampling to fine tune the sound.
Also bear in mind that the soundscape that Jack Beats put their sound against plays a big part - the bassline on it's sound may not sound the same without the correct beats and bleeps to accentuate it.

Re: Jack beats !?!?
ive always wondered if those little risers and sfx they use in the back were their very own resampled stuff or if they were sampled from some packs...
also, ive always wondered how they go about creating such drumlines

Re: Jack beats !?!?
both of them used to have hardware rig, dont use them anymore,
use mpc 60 and 2000 as their only pieces of hardware gear,
and use mostly logic,
and cubase sometimes.
got that from an interview.
