>GINZ
Most dubstep fans know GINZ, aka James Ginzburg, as JOKER's regular production partner. But if you look a little closer, you'll discover a ex-patriot producer and label mogul that has become an underground juggernaut in the Bristol and UK electronic music scene. Originally from Washington D.C., Ginzburg moved to Bristol in 2003 and launched the Multiverse Music group with the breaks label Vertical Sound Recordings, producing a long string of breakbeat hits under the moniker 30hz. He paired up with DJ PINCH in 2005 to start the crucial TECTONIC record label and record "War Dub" (as P DUTTY)--a song later included in the "CHILDREN OF MEN" film soundtrack. As dubstep began it's meteoric rise from the swamp of 2-step, grime and breaks in 2006, Ginzberg teamed with DJ PINCH again to start the EARWAX label, MEAT KATIE to launch the Lot49 label and Sam Simpson--now famous as the UK funky proponent BAOBINGA--to form THE BODY SNATCHERS breakbeat duo. In 2007, the young JOKER, the biggest dubstep sensation since SKREAM, dropped his debut release on EARWAX and Ginzburg was quick to set him up with the exclusive KAPSIZE imprint and to collaborate on the 2009 dubstep hit "Purple City" along with a number of high profile remixes for the likes of ZERO 7 and BASEMENT JAXX. If that wasn't enough, he's also well known in techno circles as EMPTYSET. The fact that Ginzburg isn't as well known as SKREAM, BENGA or CASPA, is probably his own doing. Don't miss the Chicago debut of this prolific producer, DJ and label boss.
