On the go, what head/earphones do you use?
I use little in ear Sonys just now, but they are beginning to do my head in. They are clogged up with dust, etc. and am now looking for something else but not too expensive. What do you guys use (for listening to dubstep of course) as I know some sets provide better sound depending what genre it is.

These are my A - B headphones.
Re: On the go, what head/earphones do you use?
Do some research and find user reviews. IMO, stay away from Sony and Pioneer. Sony's are just crap all the way around. Really boggles my mind that so many people still buy these worthless pieces of shit. Pioneer's have a good sound but the quality of the actual headphone is crap. Both are made with plastic parts at stress points and break in no time at all. I've heard good things about the Ortofon O2's but you're gonna drop around $130 - $150 (US dollars) for them.
Re: On the go, what head/earphones do you use?
When i am producing dubstep i like to use my AKG99 headphones, i bought them for £40 but you can find them easily on the internet for £25ish if you look hard enough.
Senhiesers are great too. and if you want a really good pair at an even cheaper price try looking for B-Stock items. whybuynew.com is a good one, where i got my new mixer from.
[B-Stock is Equipment that has been on display but not been used, baisically its been taken out the box and you get 40% off RRP]

Re: On the go, what head/earphones do you use?
On the go? Meaning, walking around, truly portable?
If you want sound isolation and listen to music in very noisy areas, you will want in-ear headphones (plugs). I personally hate these types of headphones and find them uncomfortable, but I am in the minority.
If you are in places that aren't super noisy, get some Sennheiser PX100 or PX100 Mk2. Bass/midbass that will blow away headphones that cost 3x their price (~$60). They are foldable, extremely comfortable, and work extremely well with iPods. I have two pair, one at my office and another I use at the gym or on my runs.

Yea i hate using in ear headphones now, its Destroyed my ears over the years. overhead-phones all the way deffinatley!
Re: On the go, what head/earphones do you use?
I use Sennheiser HD-800's for proper studio work. They are the best headphones i've ever used (they should be at £1000) and are just unbeatable with a proper amp.
Obviously not so great for a portable solution though! I used to use Shure isolation phones, but the build quality is crap considering the price and both pairs died within 9 months.
As of now, I use Sennheiser CX 300-II Precision's for my portable player and they sound great, especially considering they cost less than £20. Portable listening is never gonna be a studio thing for me, so I just want something that fits nicely and does the job. I highly recommend them.

I was using some Goldring GX200 for awhile and they were brilliant but awful build quality, 6 months and the wires were showing and couple of weeks later just stopped working.
On the hunt for a new pair now but I am totally brassic.
Guess I'll wait til I start uni again.

I use Sennheiser CX 300-II on the go. Not great to be fair...the old Sennheiser CX 300 were a lot better. New ones are quite tinny compared.
I'd still buy Sennheiser though, just maybe a grade up.

really nice, wicked bass response and generally comfy for long periods. Recommended.

Call me "common" or whatever, but I am keen on getting beats by dre tour. I've heard nothing but great things about them and kind of feel like treating myself to them

I don't know if its just me, but every time i hear somone recomend the beats by Dre headphones they are usually just wannabe Hip-hop producers who just big them up all the time just because they got 'Dre' On them. Like i said i don't know if thats just me but i would rather stick with a well known name like Sennheiser or Pioneer or even AKG [More for studio work]say_whut wrote:Call me "common" or whatever, but I am keen on getting beats by dre tour. Sennheiser IE8, but they cost $400. they're worth it.

Yeah I know what you mean, but these earphones are made by Monster, in collaboration with Dre. Pretty much every Monster product I've looked up has recieved very positive reviews and feedback. I've got my eyes on Monster Turbines also.Miniature wrote:I don't know if its just me, but every time i hear somone recomend the beats by Dre headphones they are usually just wannabe Hip-hop producers who just big them up all the time just because they got 'Dre' On them. I'm not saying that they won't be good, I just think you will be paying more than you probably have to just for a name. Its like Skullcandy, i feel like i wanna punch somone who buys them headphones, absolute RIP OFF!say_whut wrote:Yeah I know what you mean, but these earphones are made by Monster, in collaboration with Dre. Re: On the go, what head/earphones do you use?
I use Sennheiser px200's. Think you can get them for £30 or so. In ear headphones don't stay in my ears so they're perfect, obviously don't have the bass response of studio headphones but are the same quality you would expect from Sennheiser and fold up pretty neatly so you don't have to keep them dangling round your neck.
Re: On the go, what head/earphones do you use?
Sennheiser HD400 - so good,crystal clear sound and bass response.pricey i think,can't remember though.
..you will know your responsibility..
Re: On the go, what head/earphones do you use?
For mp3-player / iPhone use I really like the Sony Fontopia MDR-ED21LP...

Good bass, comfortable, and better than the new round ear-bud styled ones. They don't stay in my ear properly.
That said - I'm on to my 3rd pair of these, but that's in like almost 10 years now.

I'm all about the Bose In-Ear Headphones... The tips can be changed so you can get a more customized fit... Solid sound as always... These are my iPod/Computer headphones... In the studio and DJing I use Sennheiser HD280 Pros...
