Record Shops in Los Angeles?
Record Shops in Los Angeles?
Or any good (US) online stores for buying vinyl? None of the shops in my area have dubstep/dnb... I have used juno but with shipping it costs me almost $20 to buy a $9 dubplate. Someone help me out!

Re: Record Shops in Los Angeles?
Amoeba has a good collection of vinyl and CDs. Grooveriders definitely fills in the vinyl blanks. Nothing will replace shipping from the UK. I use www.chemical-records.co.uk all the time with great success.

If you're interested in the correct terminology, and not sounding dumb, you'll be interested in the following information. A dubplate and a 12" record are two totally different things. You can't buy a dubplate from a record shop, unless its some collectable old Jerry Lee Lewis. You have to cut your own dubplate from a mastering studio. A dubplate is something you cut, if you want to have a particular track in the dubplate format.
One would not refer to a 12" record bought in a shop as a 'dubplate.' You can if you want to tho', this is the intetnet right ? Not that I'm trying to make rules for you, i'm just educating a brotha' Now you can also offer me advise, if you see me flopping around under some kind of similar misconception.
Re: Record Shops in Los Angeles?
Well I am actually not looking for correct terminology, Im looking for a record shop haha. but thanks? I am from a mostly hip hop background and even hip hop records we call dubplates. a record, any record, wether it be 12", 7", whatever still a dubplate but it may be different where u live. either way i am looking for a record made of vinyl with dubstep tunes on them.EBR wrote:icebagg wrote:Or any good (US) online stores for buying vinyl? Re: Record Shops in Los Angeles?
Amoeba doesnt have shit for dubstep cd's, they had SOME but very limited dnb cd selection, another reason for this is (most) dubstep isnt released on CD. They actually had a respectable dubstep VINYL selection. Only problem is thy charge anywhere between $12-$30 for a record. I spent 40 and got 3 records....not the investment i was looking for. I havnt tried grooveriders yet but i hear they got a good slection. And i will continue to search online, thanks for the help guys!honey-d wrote:I don't use vinyl but I know Amoeba's CD dubstep collection is pretty damn limited.MUT3 wrote:Amoeba in hollywood is dope

Re: Record Shops in Los Angeles?
I found some pretty good 6blocc mixes in Amoeba, they also had the new Vex'd CD... they have lots of dubstep CDs, even their own section. don't know where else this phenomenon exists on the west coast.
Re: Record Shops in Los Angeles?
are you kidding? they sell dubstep cd's and vinyl everywhere in frisco, portland and seattle
tbh, easy street in seattle stocks more dubstep than amoeba does in any city, that store is kinda wack imho

Re: Record Shops in Los Angeles?
well i mean with an official dubstep section, a segment of the store with a piece of plastic that says "Dubstep" sticking out of it. But then again I havent been to Oregon or Washington for a whileboxxy wrote:are you kidding? they sell dubstep cd's and vinyl everywhere in frisco, portland and seattle
