How would you react to racism?

Easy all... in Hong Kong at the moment and just came back from a night out... I experienced a small racist episode tonight that really pissed me off but doesn't reflect on Chinese People as a whole.

I was lining for a taxi to get back and just before I got in the cab a group behind me shouted "that fucking paki tnuc stole our taxi"... first of all im not from pakistani origin, im english/filipino mixed... but I took offence to the fact they used that word in that context...

I got out the cab and stood there and asked the guy to say it again. He immediately started beating his chest saying if your gonna fight me come and do it. I told him not interested in fighting him and asked him to repeat what he said, he didn't..

I don't know why but I said to him if you really want this taxi I invite you take it i'll just get the next one directly behind. He came up to me shoved me out the way and got in. As soon as he sat inside I held the door open and told him he was an ignorant mother fucker and one day he'll get what's coming to him. His girlfriend tried to shove me out the way calling me"indian trash". Then a Chinese police officer comes up to me and tells me not to start trouble. I let him go and get in the next taxi. His friend who was accompanying him is apologising profusely and I told him I didn't give a shit.

Earlier tonight when I was playing basketball I met a really nice chinese guy named andy.. we talked about everything from science to careers to politics and eventually racism. He asked what I thought of the treatment towards brown people (Filipinos, Indians, Pakistanis, Indonesians and Nepalese.) I told him that no matter where you go in the world there will safe people and stnuc and he pretty much proved it to me tonight with two completely contrasting characters. But now im sitting here thinking I should have to smacked that guy in the face and taken my chances with the police... anyone experienced any racist incidents or what would you do?

thats what scares me about China its another world... racism is accepted and supported by the governments.. theres no way to win...

Japanese & Chinese have always had a culture of racism. They really look down onto black people i've heard. they even compare them to monkeys on national television...(Japan)

ive spent alot of time in rural kenya...
used to get pinched on the arm by young kids 'cos theyve never actually seen white ppl before
go to any slum without a guide you will get fucked over, lots of angry young men and being white is like having 'im rich, mug me!' stamped on your forhead. (actually theyre probly not literate, so the sign wouldnt matter)

Well I'm Pakistani...And Muslim...And most of my family live in Uganda and Kenya...

So quite a fair bit of racism. I'm not a hard man though, I gym a little, but I can't fight for shit. So I grew may hair, got it braided and grew a massive beard ( 14 months strong ) and I get no hassle at all anymore.

had the slightest racism/sectarianism headed my way cus I've got catholic irish taig mick pape paddy parents, but to be honest its a minor compared to some stuff i suppose.

Ahh i really hate racism with a strong passion so i do feel quite worked up inside everytime i see it and hear about it. It's still seems to be quite common in the uk too unfortunately. The xenophobia here is just ridiculous where it's not just race but anything foreign whether it be people, religions, cultures, ideas etc. All seem to be met with instant hostility which really gets on my nerves. I deal with alot of comments aimed at foreign people in this country and quite alot of media advocating it while making subtle implications that it's the right thing to do. I was also suprised to see how much racist and xenophobic ideas are spread over facebook too since joining. Although i never fight about it, i just offer explanations to be people as to why it's wrong and if they don't pay attention when i try and calmly explain then i don't see beating it into them working (i usually let the violence speak for itself when i see the people advocating this crap being the first to resort to it).

I really feel passionate about changing the ideas and the attitudes people have towards others so that maybe i can see a future where people are more open minded, educated and accepting of others rather than constantly trying to draw divisions between eachother. The UK has quite a multicultural society but it's a shame to see how very little people actually embrace it and are proud of it. Instead we have a population full of people that make a mockery out of the fact so many people died to try and defend this world against fascism in ww2. Like i've said before in here, the general attitude i see in this country today is that most people wouldn't ever be racist towards african carribeans but won't think twice about directing racial hatred towards any other ethnic group and making anyone else that isn't british feel unwelcome and victimised.

If all is clear, let twat have taxi, as he is getting in, kick the car door closed as hard as you possibly can, hopefully catching twatter in head/neck/arm/wrist. Good chance of breaking a bone there. Then without warning spin and right hook the chick in her nose. When she hits the sidewalk, stomp on the hand that is holding the purse, grab the purse, book it through an alley, enter a bar or catch a waiting taxi. Drop the purse in the nearest ghetto.

If you are caught, of course, likely will be chopped up for second hand organs for my rich friends...

You will have reinforced a negative stereotype, sure, but you will have at least taught a couple of stnuc to watch their fucking mouths.
