I'm not gonna listen to your tunes cos a: it's in the wrong section and b: if it's anything like what you posted in the widdler thread it's gonna make me cry with rage again.

As for Ableton and Reason, that's how I currently operate, it's an awesome combination but it helps if you don't rip off other people..

As for the tune posting, sorry, I am new to the "dubstepforum".

As for "ripping" anyone off, I did not do such a thing. It clearly says on my SoundCloud and on my artist page that this is a "Mashup" of The Widdler and Acacia strain.

Sorry if that pisses anyone off.

Sorry dude, things like that do tend to piss people off round here. I mean, it *is* a production forum after all XD producers tend not to be such fans of 'mash ups' and we get a *lot* of newbies come through here making the same mistakes so we tend to be quite cutting and short sometimes. Hope you don't get put off and can settle in here anyway.

Right, lets get this thread back on track shall we? :D

Ableton + Reason = the combo of the gods. Definitely stick with it man cos it's awesome. How are you operating at the moment? are you making an audio and a midi channel for everything and arranging midi in ableton or are you setting up one audio track to capture samples and resampling things you make in reason into ableton and whacking them in a sampler there to add effects or are you setting up seperate audio channels for each reason instrument and doing your sequencing half in ableton and half in reason?? (the last one there is what I do) I guess each way has it's merits but I rate reasons take on automation much higher than abletons so I like to do that ting in the reason window.

Well,

I use Ableton to structure everything from the drums to the actual layout of the tune. I only use reason to make some of my grittier bass sounds.

I would like to know more about making heavy Lost or Widdler type bass in Reason though, like what patches or setting to use. I mean, I have everything except my bass, I'm just not happy with it, so I really dont want to release anything yet.

Also, I feel so pressured because I have shows with Excision and Datsik coming up and I really want something to show. I need to find my nitch in Reason fast lol

Vonstroke does backward tho, makes most of the stuff in ableton then bounces it down into reason :?

My method is a little confusing.

So confusing I made this topic lol.

I want to know if what I am doing is down grading the quality of my sound.

I do one of two things when I produce a particular bass type.

Method One

I make a sound that I like in Reason and export that sound out of reason as a WAV. Then I bring it into Ableton and run it threw the "Simpler" tool and then add compressors or EQs to it on that same channel.

Method Two

I open a MIDI and audio channel side by side in Ableton.

I set the "MIDI to" on the MIDI channel to Reason, and "Audio from" on the audio channel to Reason, then pick the device with in reason from Ableton under "MIDI to".

I have a question about Method number two though. Say that I have the MIDI & Audio channel rewire going on in a track that I am working on. Is it NOT possible to open more then one .rns in Ableton at a time?

Yeah that does seem to be the "easy" route. I just really need to learn more about Reason.

Could anyone point me in the right direction when it comes to Reason tips and such?
