BIG BAD No Rules FL Studio ZIP Style (Dubstep) Collab Thread

Post by jsilver » Sat Aug 28, 2010 6:20 pm

Alright guys, I wanna try to ensure the survival of this so no rules really besides what guidelines you find below (and no warez discussion please.)

To keep this from turning into just a discussion about FL in general, I want to ask people to generally include an FLP ZIP with each of their posts unless it's a crit. If you are collabing someone, quote their post so they can know that you did a variation of them. :)

I don't recommend using VSTs because of the collaborative style of this thread and long-time users of FL know that can be a nightmare with DLL versions, however if you do make sure you say what you used and what version so people don't load it up and think that it's pure Fruity.

I recommend ZIP as the format because it makes sure that you packaged your audio stems. If you follow these instructions the ride is smoother.

I'll start off with two project stems. Try either or do both. ;)
They're under "other". Download below.

To export FL Zip: File->Export->Zipped loop package.

I know you said not to post, and i apologise, but i have no idea what one is meant to do here? Are we adding to your zip? or just posting examples?

Adding/collabing yes. Collaborating. It's intent to be an open-source style collaboration thread. You can bring your own project stems or add to mine/anyone who posts anything. Just edit and post it back. It's all open to interpretation :)

The "rules" are 1. Use FL Studio 2. No VSTs 3. Use Zip.

well i couldnt open your projects for sh*t in FL 6, i think il temporary install a FL 9 elsewhere and giv this whole thing a go. if not then i will just start my own project and share it. i like this idea of collabing because i dont get 2 produce for as many hours as id wish to :( lol

Sorry it took longer than I though but here's the remix pack for my latest song "No Longer the Same"

If you remix it lemme know cause I'd love to hear it =)

Oh and the freeware filter i use I included with the zip just put the .dll in your vst folder

http://www.speedyshare.com/files/240162 ... ilter_.zip

Alternate Link:

http://www.sendspace.com/file/kpqzt4

And here's a link to a slightly older tagged version you can take a listen to before you download the big zip

http://www.box.net/shared/mrfomjc2bg

In case you want to write in additional synths here is a chart that shows what notes I used (ones with red are used)
http://www.box.net/shared/770288sfx4

Now the bassline uses E and F an octave higher and G# in the same octave as the F.

The Arp in the intro is the same progression with the arp using a 4 and 7 semitone higher note every so often to keep it interesting hence why so many notes next to each other as the chart includes the 4th and 7th =)

HAVE FUN!

Got any track (even old poorly mixed tunes)? just make a remix pack by exporting all the loops and rebuilding the song (takes about 40 minutes tops)... you can do this either by exporting while in loop mode (only will export the loop your on so you have to repeat this for each loop) which is the easiest way... or you can record into edison chop it out yourself and rebuild...just remember to have the "cut remainder" light on if you use the export way =).... and use stock Fl plugins (in the mixer) or include the FREEWARE ones you used

Once you've rebuilt your song go to File> Export> Zip Looped Package... upload that zip to somewhere like sendspace and post a link... people with more expierence can (and will) still remix it and improve the mixing.. and we can also send you back our remixed flp so you can see how and learn!
