Coming Soon from Skull Disco

Post by s.t. holdings » Thu Mar 01, 2007 1:40 pm

Coming soon from Skull Disco...

Cat no: SKULL06 -
Title: Soundboy's Ashes Get Chopped Out And Snorted 12"
A-side Appleblim - Vansan
AA-side Shackleton - You Bring Me Down
Release Date: Late March
Sounclips on: myspace.com/stholdings

Once again Skull Disco returns after a brief hiatus with two bangers for the
new year. On the A side, there's Appleblim once again upping his game with
his deepest and most developed track yet. Vansan is sure to be appeal to
fans of Basic Channel, through to dubsteppers and the whole dubhead
fraternity. Pure weight and thickness. Great stuff. Shackleton on the AA
side brings the percussive vibe with a track that increases his use of
intricate beats and middle-eastern influenced rhythms. It's a sprawling
journey across the wasteland here with the tension increasing with every
increment. You know the man's style. Out on its own!

It's looking like an eventful year for the Skull Disco boys. So far this
year they've played at venues across the country, including FWD, the most
influential club of its type for serious bass heads, through to Exeter,
Bristol and Germany where Berlin and Munich showed their appreciation and
fans of the Skull Disco sound such as forward thinking djs like Ricardo
Villalobos, Cassy, the Hardwax record shop, genius percussionist Chronomad
and other Skull heads are based.

Cat no: SKULL007
Title: Blood On My Hands Ricardo Villalobos Remix
a: Blood On My Hands Ricardo Villalobos Remix Part 1
b: Blood On My Hands Ricardo Villalobos Remix Part 2
Release Date: Early April
Sounclips on: myspace.com/stholdings

Villalobos' remix of Shackleton's 'Blood On My Hands' has been played out at
major clubs such as Fabric and been featured on Radio One's Essential mix.
Bigness! Watch out for the Villalobos remix coming out on Skull Disco very
soon too! As for the rest of 2007, Skull Disco will be pushing their sound
and the boundaries even further, both musically and geographically. A full
tour of Europe is planned for the early Summer while big things are being
cooked up in the studio. Watch this space!

Large! Vansan is too good, looking really fwd to this release. Not feelin the Villalobos remix at all, though, I think this tune is the worst of this new techno-dubstep crossover.

i think the remix sounds good, but i think its gonna be important to hear it in full before passing judgement, villalobos is a lot about ebbs, peaks, waves... soundclips aint gonna cut it

and i dont really see it as crossover as such, more just straight techno with the parts of a dubstep tune

Yep, maybe that's why I don't like it, cause it's just another Villalobos techno tune and he didn't preserve any of the Shackleton essence on the original... anyway, there's a few Villalobos mixes out there where he plays it, some of them 192kbps (btw he usually let it sound like 7 or 8 minutes without mixing it).

You so right! Skull Disco is running things!

Both tunes are large, serious deep sounds.

Played the Shackleton tune yesterday on my show.
