DJ Nate - Ima Burn Him

Post by feral witchchild » Mon Sep 13, 2010 4:16 pm

This is fucking beautiful. Is there more deep juke/footwork/whatever like this out there?

Discuss.

I can't stand the majority of juke but I like this.

Couple of my fave nate tunes on a deeper/melodic tip:

He's got an album coming out on Planet Mu as well I believe so surely there will be some on there.

Feeling these. I think "Ima Burn Him" is easily one of the best tracks of 2010.

maybe it's just me but i think the OP song would be much better with a little more scattered use of the "ima burn him" sample... when it's repeated over and over for most of the song it gets a little obnoxious (imo).. maybe i just dont get the genre

I had my opinion of DJ Nate's music changed drastically by "Ima Burn Him". I find "Hatas our motivation" kind of obnoxious, for sure. lol

The chicago juke scene draws a lot of parallels between the london dubstep scene for sure, and of course it's also focused on bass. I've showed a lot of dubstep to some guys I've known from juke/house for years and they are into the more percussive tunes, not much into the synths at all which I found interesting. A couple of them said it was too slow though.

there is more parallels between Jungle and Juke than Dubstep and Juke, however this seems to be a coincidence mainly because Juke is mainly derived from Chicago house with more recent footwork shit like Nate throwing in hiphop elements too.

To the OP, check DJ Elmoe for the ultimate ambient juke shit

can't find on you tube but werkin in da circle is the best, Jazzwerks and Dragon bangz

Also, not ambient but the biggest track is DJ Rashad- Who da coldest, also released on Planet Mu recently, pure acid juke
what is of value and wisdom for one man seems nonsense to another.

God I can't stand most Juke

It's often just hearing one sentence over and over the same drums. It's painful.

The addition of some melody is kind of nice. But it's still a kind of abrasive stupid genre overall to be honest
