Hate.

Post by MissBrass » Tue Oct 05, 2010 9:53 pm

So... I am only writing this because I am increasingly alarmed by the fact that I've been noticing a lot of hate going around. I don't post often and don't know if anyone has made a thread about this BUT I'd like to know why some of you guys show soo much hate for people you've never met or spoken to?

I've been reading random comments, posts and it's really disheartening to see that certain artists are getting threats, some are being bashed viciously in threads, and there's a lot more awful shit going on and it's very scary. Guys.. I want all this to stop. I know we can't all be friends, or like everything but we are all here because we have at least one thing in common: OUR LOVE FOR 140 BPM!

I have stated this before and I'll say it again, its OK not to like someones music, their opinion and if you've met someone and had a bad experience with them, its ok not to personally like them too! But its not ok to make threats, or to viciously bash people's character when you have never met them.

I seldom go out these days because I am caught up working. However when I do, I am going out because I want to listen to good music, have fun and forget the day to day bullshit. I don't want to feel unsafe, I don't want to be scared to voice my opinions. I really hope some of you guys read this and take something from it.. I love this scene and I don't want to see us try and destroy each other.

So next time you're about to say something hateful.. think about it because our scene is only as strong as our weakest link, so instead of making it a volatile scene who burns itself to the ground, lets be a scene that supports each other and when there's criticism to be made, we voice them correctly so they can be constructive. Anything outside of that is just not cool and nobody will earn anything from it ultimately.

Some hate because of the music, some hate because of your country, some hate because their lives are fucking sad.

If they're hatin you've on some level been heard. It's hard to convince people that act irrationally to something as aesthetic as music to chill the fuck out.

Just take the Katt Williams approach and embrace the fuckers.

Hey, haters gonna hate, thats a fact and if you have 10 haters you need to figure out how to get 20, I get that. However, when I hear people threatening physical violence upon others they've never met for no good reason, THAT worries me plenty.

This, no doubt, will turn into a 'haters gunna hate thread' now.

This kind of behaviour is not limited to this forum, name calling, abuse, verbal attacks etc are unfortunatley far to common in all areas of the internet, go to youtube and read the comments, go to newspaper websites and read the comments after the articles, infact anywhere that someone can use their anonymity and a soap box will fuel the fires for some to be truly vicious be it from jealousy, narrow mindedness or just due to boredom, im pretty sure most arguements seem to take place due to people being at work or at home having not much more to do than to become irrate at something written and to write something even more irrate and irational afterwords. This forum has been going for 5 years now, I have been on here for a long time normally just reading but occasionally posting, it hasnt always been jelly beans and rainbows even from the early days, the truth of the matter is that this is a public forum and everyone has a right to their personal tastes and opinions but agree that this should not be at the expense of some peoples careers, I think we have to bear in mind that when you state that a promoter, producer or DJ is unreliable, un-proffesional, a cheat, a liar, a nuisance etc you are talking about someones job and certain things would be better served within a private capacity.

some people really are owed the karmic backhand of getting their dirty laundry aired in public when everything in the private capacity fails so it doesn't happen to others too
cue haters gonna hate images

also i think some of these artists inadvertently are inviting it with their song titles, samples, etc that portray some over the top themes which are just there to shock people
not saying it's right, but it comes with the territory

Ya don't get me wrong, I live by the idea that if you don't want people to know about your shady dealings, don't do shady shit. But my point is mostly lost here. Ya haters gonna hate, but as I've stated... I have heard of different musicians being physically threatened and thats just NOT cool. Over what?! The fact you don't like their songs?!

it's internet tough guyism that's all
unless the shit finally travels over to reality that's when i'd be worrying
when half of your fanbase trawls together to see who can come up with the best filthier than... or anyone who clicked dislike is a... comments on youtube you're bound to get some mouth breathers with less than nominal social skills behind a keyboard

I am guessing that you started this thread based off of some shit you took on another thread.

like someone before me had posted: "welcome to the internet".

I frequent a few message boards aside from this one, and you know... the internet/msg boards are full of critics.

people are very passionate and opinionated. There's nothing wrong with that.

it's too bad that a lot of people who post on msg boards in general, sometimes turn those opinions into shit talking.

just the way that it is.

You have to get used to it, cause the world isn't going to change.
