[boring] Event forum title formats
Sorry about the immensely boring post topic, but does anyone still give a shit about these?
I just had a look at one of the event forums to see what's coming up in the next few weeks and it's loads harder to skim over at a glance than it used to be because every event puts the date, location, name and lineup in a different order...
If the mods have no longer got time to enforce this it's fair enough and I'll just have to put in the extra time to read it properly but it did make it easier to read and probably made people more likely to actually spot the events that they were interested in (ie it was better publicity for the promoters).

Re: [boring] Event forum title formats
I read you man, I don't think it would be a bad idea to enforce them here on the main forum as well (though I don't know if that is technologically possible???)
Like [New Release] or [Radio] or [Interview] : make some categories, and obligate them somehow, it would turn off a lot of trolls and noobs I think...but that's just me.

lol at the [boring] tag
in a way these kinds of threads are quite boring but it's stuff like this that i've been spending a lot of time thinking of solutions to lately because it's often the little things that make the difference
i've got my thinking hat on now.... and the fucking smiley i wanted to use has gone since the update as well now

they're a bit of a mess i'll agree. like you say the mods often have other things on their mind but it could do with sorting. if people could be trusted to post things properly that'd be great but it's still reliant on mods cleaning out old threadsslothrop wrote:I just had a look at one of the event forums to see what's coming up in the next few weeks and it's loads harder to skim over at a glance than it used to be because every event puts the date, location, name and lineup in a different order...

good idea, but again it's something that depends on people posting responsibly or it would be very intensive on modsjoeki wrote:Like [New Release] or [Radio] or [Interview] : make some categories, and obligate them somehow, it would turn off a lot of trolls and noobs I think...but that's just me.

Re: [boring] Event forum title formats
OT but yeah. I clicked more smilies earlier and it just showed me the same ones in a massive window. I really want to use the chin stroking one....
But yeah, the events title format bothers me. I post events and try to make sure I obey ze rules, errone should

Re: [boring] Event forum title formats
I think the thing with the events forum is that back in the day almost everyone followed it so almost everyone got the idea pretty quickly and it didn't take much prodding to make sure people stuck to the rules whereas now everyone's doing it their own way it'd take quite a big initial effort to get most people back in order...badger wrote: they're a bit of a mess i'll agree. like you say the mods often have other things on their mind but it could do with sorting. if people could be trusted to post things properly that'd be great but it's still reliant on mods cleaning out old threads
It's a good thing for everyone though, cos if it's easier to spot which stuff you're interested in then you're more likely to go to it, and everyone's happier...
Re: [boring] Event forum title formats
exactly. what people never seem to realise is that the rules are there for everyone's benefit and not to make life difficultslothrop wrote:It's a good thing for everyone though, cos if it's easier to spot which stuff you're interested in then you're more likely to go to it, and everyone's happier...

lessen the current mods workload by appointing some specifically for the subsections like snh and the production board have that can volunteer to enforce the dull rules like this
if you keep it check or lock threads in improper format maybe people will start to get it through their thick skulls and read the stickies

Re: [boring] Event forum title formats
Generally I handle the events forums. I haven't been logged in for a week due to a computer virus, which is why they're a bit messy at the moment. I'll do the usual cleanup later this evening.
Promoters definitely need to adhere more stringently to the title format, though. Why would you put all of the important information on a flyer linked within a thread, but leave it out of the thread title so that your potential attendees aren't even inclined to look?

Re: [boring] Event forum title formats
I actually saw one earlier that didn't mention a date anywhere in the post...
Re: [boring] Event forum title formats
Lol that happened to one of our flyers back in day.
Had to hand-write it on every single flyer with magic marker.... tedious.
