IMO they are both sick tunes and both producers made some awesome stuff in their day but neither of them have really been relevant for some time...

The artist may be irrelevant but the music is not. And last I checked Bar 9 still makes new tunes. I thought he was a relatively new artist, I dunno.

bar9's duck hunt is a really cool older track because they take on a different sound scape, i dont really like the midrangey synth in it, but subs are layered really nicely and the drums have a unique flavor to em. a lot of there older stuff, a little before malicious tactics started getting way too similar even though they did mess around with interesting rhythms and movements despite that. after hearing murda sound i was under the impression that they invested their time to make really developed tracks and would approach it differently every time with a different atmosphere, but once i heard theyre other tracks, they didnt really deviate from that too much which is a shame. the atmosphere in murda sound is what makes it and they dont really try to approach different atmospheres

I was really into Bar 9 and still am. Midnight is a great track, nothing too complex but sounds heavyweight.

I also like their remix of "Keep the Fire" although some people hate on it.

Despite the fact he hasn't made anything worth listening to in years?? I didn't mean the music was any less good. Just that the artists aren't making anything new at the moment. It's like if someone started a thread saying how good jimi hendrix was...it's like, we know, everyone knows, but there's nothing new to hear about it so why mention it??

I think it's ABSOLUTELY worth mentioning:

1. Is Miles Davis or John Coltrane any any less relevant to the importance of jazz? Despite Toasty not making dubstep are his tunes any less influential?
2. I would venture to guess that 90% of dubstep fans who have gotten into dubstep in the last year have never heard of Toasty - by mentioning him, it offers them an opportunity to look into who else is out there besides Bar 9, Datsik, Excision, Mt. Eden, etc.
3. If you had a friend who played guitar and was really into rock music - but didn't know who Hendrix was, what he sounded like, or why he was important, wouldn't that make you facepalm?
