Filter madness!!

Post by Sinus Sawtooth » Sat Oct 23, 2010 10:39 am

Well not really... so I'm using the filter in Ableton, pretty straightforward boring filter, any idea's for a substitute? I may cost monies. not more then 200 euro though cuz I'm a poor bastard, unless someone wants to buy a kidney (15k). Also any idea's for a hardware filter? I bought the Korg Monotron to play around with it's filter, it should be in the mail monday or something, but I reckon there should be heavier, filthier hardware filters around.

Well, Im going to recommend you Atlantis, because its badman, and free.

http://www.kvraudio.com/news/7171.html

however, this does make me in b4 deadly with a fabfilter volcano recommendation... but its pricey

http://www.fabfilter.com/products/volcano.php

Finally, Idk if theyve published it as a plugin yet or not, but Image-Line makes Love Philter, n its pretty win as well!

EDIT : Yeah they did...

Fabfilter also have a cheap single filter http://www.fabfilter.com/products/micro.php it's the same quality filter as volcano and can be used in a few slots to get a mutlimode popping.

Sherman sounds awesome, can it work as a parametric EQ or is just a filter/distortion unit?

THE MOOGERFOOGER! One of the best pedals I've ever screwed around with - for guitar that is. I'd love to hear what else it could do.

Mine arrived the other day, going out of my mind waiting for a powersupply. Got an ac/dc powersupply of an ac/ac, talk about a fucking oversight. Ill post up a clip when i get it cracking, hopefully in the next few days. I think you can get notches out of the band pass, but from what ive read and heard its anything but clean so its probably not a good choice for eq. It does have a harmonics knob which sets one of the filters a mathematic ratio (an octave or fifth etc etc) below the other filter which you can create overtones with it, but thats another kettle of fish.

I use PSP Nitro a fair bit for filtersweeps and such like. Its only got 2 lfos (it has a few envelopes I think) but it does have a mod matrix and you can do feedback loop style things similar to fm8. It was $10 a while back on sale, have a suss. The slow open of the bass in the track in my sig and also the drumbreak in intro are done with that, actually all the filtering is but the rest is real subtle headphone shit.... I really like the atlantis filter like someone else suggested although it can get a bit overwhelming, awesome results tho. There the only filters I really use, except built in ones. A lot of softsynths have an '"fx" mode so you can run audio through them, might be worth considering.
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget.

Yeah, I men its an iconic sound, but its only a lp filter. I would love a sherman filterbank. Tons of stuff you can do with it and sounds great
