Favourite Open-Hat's?

Post by lowpass » Sun Oct 24, 2010 7:32 pm

What are some of your fave's?

The only one I've really liked so far has been from a 909 pack but only really for percussive track's, lookin for others

808s for sure, been using them more as an atmospheric device than for actual hi-hat purposes ;)

The ones you get from breaks played by real drummers mostly, although some 808 ones are ok.

i like real hat sounds, not synthed. all the hats i've got from equipped music at loopmasters have been clean and crisp, and most importantly, actual recordings of actual hi-hats. in my opinion, if you really want that spssh! sound you need a real hat sample.

Mayne, have you heard the 909 open hats? They're actually that good. I'm sure there are other nice hats out there, but the 909 is like zeus came from mount olympus and synthed some hi-hats which were then stolen by roland. Pretty much one of my favourite sounds.

One of my favourite hi-hats is one from a cheap keyboard I found at a garage sale, it sounds like a 909 but it's a bit more lo-fi.

Here's another great open hi-hat, does anyone know which drum machine it's from?

Sampled from breaks mostly. But 909's have their place too.

I especially like the hats from Black Sabbaths "War Pigs"
