Recommend me good grime/bassline music

Post by sixamsedna » Thu Nov 18, 2010 7:23 am

Heard THIS on tuesday, and realized I haven't listened to grime/bassline in a VERY long time, forgot how good it can be.

My first introduction to it was Virus Syndicate. I have both of their albums, but besides them I don't know any worthy producers of grime/bassline. I really love what I hear in that link I provided up above, but then it's also gotta be the love I hold for Home Alone in general :D

who's hot right now in this field

I was massively in to Bassline 08/09 before the MCs ruined it. Producer wise check out TS7, TRC, Witty Boi, Murkz, Subzero, T2, Mr V/Virgo, DJ Q, JTJ, Screama, all have some SICK tunes.

Check out DJ Total, Witty Boi & DJ Murkz old monthly mixes around mid 08-early 09 loads of sick tunes in them that ill unfortunately never be able to get my hands on. Theres a Sub Zero mix as well from around those dates might be a link on his myspace still thats pretty SICK as well

boom http://www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=169477

great place to start for grime instrumentals

never been that big on bassline other than the odd tune. fucking love heartbroken though haha

can only find the burgaboy remix of this on youtube but the trc version is wicked http://www.juno.co.uk/ppps/products/330150-01.htm
interesting that his bassline from 2 years ago sounds almost exactly the same as the grime he's just released this month but make of that what you will ;)

the best instrumentals from the american hip hop was the sample based shit. i found that lot of the current trend of synthesized shit just falls short. although i was a fan of the whole swizz beatz style shit when it started coming into hip hop. i want my hip hop sounding dusty and sampled and looped...mpc style..

grime on the other hand does that synthesized, more computer based stuff well. i like all these instrumentals i'm hearing.

and obviously i'm over generalizing...both sides of the water can do the vice versa very well.

anyway we talking about grime, and i'm learning a lot from this thread and the other thread so carry on folks.

times have changed man, and I dont think saying that grime instrumentals are sicker is fair to american hip hop instrumentals... it's like qwaycee already mentioned, the sample based stuff was where it's at in the early-to-mid 90's I would say.

one of the sickest hip hop productions that I've heard is on

if people don't think so - I just don't know what else to say... One of the darkest albums in hip hop, and some of the best instrumental work.

not too knowledgeable on bassline really, but there's always been a big scene in birmingham for speed garage and bassline. lots of the stuff i prefer seem to be from around 2002 - 2005. the main names were trotters independent traders, summer junkies i think. the slightly newer stuff like ts7, t2, burgaboy etc. as well. try searching for niche mixes and some like the ones here http://www.freemixdownloads.com/?s=bassline

here's some ones i like

for grime, check the other threads :D:
