Founded by Gabriel 'Heatwave' Myddelton in 2003, The Heatwave started life as a monthly club night before morphing into a multi-armed musical machine including DJ sets and live shows, productions and remixes, mixes and compilations, radio shows and journalism.
Playing every week around the UK, Europe and beyond, The Heatwave's hyped up DJ sets are guaranteed to get any crowd of people down and dirty. Host MC Rubi Dan calls it the bashment workout, but it's much more fun than hitting the gym!
Heatwave residencies include a weekly spot on RINSE FM and the weekly dancehall night Hot Wuk at Big Chill House, London. They are regulars at clubs like Fabric, Bar Rumba and Cargo and at festivals liek Secret Garden Party, Big Chill and Bestival.
Producers
Working on various productions, remixes and re-fixes, The Heatwave have collaborated with, and remixed the likes of the like of Warrior Queen, Riko and Rubi Dan, YT, Natalie Storm and Serocee Jammer & Badness, Mavado and Horace Andy.
The Heatwave's widely acclaimed dancehall remixes of tracks like Trick Me (Kelis) and Crazy (Gnarls Barkley) have been rinsed by everyone from David Rodigan and Chris Goldfinger to Sinden and DJ Yoda, making the Punchline imprint trusted and loved by DJs and fans alike.
The Heatwave conceived and curated the critically acclaimed compilation An England Story, which came out on Soul Jazz Records in 2008. The double album traces the development of Jamaican-influenced MCing in the UK, covering dancehall, jungle, hip hop, garage and grime.
