Limit To Your Love's cover comes out on Monday - This is a good day for music and most importantly dubstep in my eyes.


This has inspired me to start looking at my background in writing acoustic guitar songs and maybe get on the mic and make some proper vocal -songs- instead of drawing for the beats and bass - at 140bpm! Who else is going in this direction or at least feeling it?

minus the vocals....the closest thing to vocals i'd be able to pull off is spaceape

used to write rhymes, but i don't think i could listen to a recording of myself rapping these days and take myself seriously.

Yeh that limit to your love tune is a genre crossing hit, whatever your into i dont see how you can fail to like that tune on some level or other. Heard it on radio a bit but ive never head them discuss his dubstep background.

Also his Klavierwerke EP is somethin else, first thing i heard in a while that actually stopped me in my tracks. majorly burial inspired but as far as i understand it most of the stuff is him playin piano/singin and then all chopped up edited weirded out. sounds beautiful tho.

Been thinking about this for awhile and have decided that I'm going to teach myself how to play acoustic guitar and get my sister to start recording some vocals because her voice is just excellent. I just want my music to sound natural.

dubstep and electronica music that incorporates vocals in a unique way always stands out to me,[james blake and mt. kimbie].

not dubstep, but bibio is one of my favorites because he combines lofi electronica production style with traditional guitar and vocals

Also, a lot of times I will write progressions on my guitar first before opening all my synths etc. Its a fresh way of songwriting tha can give you results you wouldn't get from doing all your songwriting "in the box"

I reallllllllllllllllllllly didn't get james blake at first, nor mount kimbie but hearing kimbie's set at boiler room and hearing that one by james blake "yeah I found her, red coat.. " out live made me see it in a different light!

Spoken word shit is epic with dubstep...



Something on that mellow/deep tip, with a really well constructed words, drums as well as some flutes in there would be out of this world! Go for it! The only thing stopping us is ourself, after all!


Speaking of spaceape - this is still my favourite dubstep track to just sick and mellow out to.




Deffo moving into to this kind of direction for the future <3

'limit to your love' took some time to grow on me....took me a few weeks to get into it properly. but i realized there are so few elements that each one is pretty serious individually.


but as for the spoken word business....all i need's a mic and i think i'ma gonna start penning shit down again.

I have a 70% done track using my vocals in a very slightly similar vibe, but man am I a fucking terrible singer, even with a vocoder

the thing is, while ppl have been talking the most shit about 'where is dubstep going? what is the future for dub bass ( )? and so on...2010 has been a great year, a lot of addressing certain issues like "where is the bass music going? a lot of good shit happened this year.

the juke business was a massive ting imo. the whole old school original us bass music resurgence was quite serious....its like rediscovering of generes. i know people that were into shit like miami bass...they find the juke thing pretty serious.
